I recently went to this property for my birthday with my mom and my cousin and we had a fantastic stay. Everything was very clean. It was a very quiet and relaxing trip. The property owners were fantastic and offered tons of extra options for our stay, we had a great time! Will definitely be back
A stunning property and shoreline that included everything!
We were immediately struck by the peaceful lake, the beautifully landscaped shoreline with a fairly large beachfront and dock, and the number of amenities included with this property (hot tub & large sauna). The interior layout was comfortable, clean, and expansive-- easily accommodating our big family meals, movie, and game nights. The combination of a great cottage inside, and having all your outdoor needs met (hot-tubbing, kayaking, canoeing, boating, fishing, badminton, etc...) made this such an ideal vacation for our family. We will definitely be booking here again.
Had a fantastic stay at the Cichon cottage the last week of July. We were 2 families sharing with 4 kids ranging in age from 12 to 16. Lots of room and things to do so that everyone was able to relax and unwind. The pool table and large tv were great to have on the rainy days. The lake was exceptionally quiet and we felt like we were the only ones there. We had no concerns with the kids out in the kayaks checking out the lake. The property is beautiful and well maintained. Mark was great to answer all of our questions before and during our stay. If you are looking for a place to get away we highly recommend this location.
Awesome. All the nicest creature comforts nestled amidst unspoiled nature.
Our family hugely enjoyed our 10 days at Mark's beautiful secluded property...smack in the middle of a hemlock, poplar and birch forest. We had an opportunity to re-experience pandemic-free life with our adult children and their significant others. We met only 3 other groups of people during our stay. Mark was immediately responsive to every request and clear and transparent about every detail. The facilities and finishes are top notch. We would definitely rent from Mark again. P.S. you really do need an AWD vehicle to access the property in the winter.
We stayed here with 3 couples mid November and enjoyed time around the wood fireplace while playing board games. We caught some beautiful sun sets right of the back deck and from the sandy beach and also from the hot tub.(seats up to 5) We also had some peaceful hikes along the main gravel cottage road. As stated in the listing you should drive a AWD or 4x4 during the winter months as indeed the hilly and windy cottage roads can be rather snowy and slippery and it’s 25 or so minutes from highway 28 and I wouldn’t recommend trying it with a small vehicle in snowy weather. While at the house we also enjoyed the pool table and sauna quite a bit which was the perfect ingredient for a successful week away.
The hosts were very detailed oriented and this was seen in the cottage with instruction notes in various places which was appreciated. They also followed up with us throughout our stay to see if all was okay. We loved our stay and hope to come back again
We stayed at Mark’s cottage/villa with our adult children and had another awesome holiday. This was our 3rd time renting – first time in the summer.
The place is remote, and quiet – excepts for the loons, chipmunks, squirrels and bullfrogs😊 - it was only on the weekend that we heard other people partying on the lake, and even then – they weren’t too rowdy.
Its well equipped; squeaky clean gas BBQ, newish appliances and every kitchen tool you could want – if you like to cook. It also comes with kayaks, canoe, rowboat, fishing gear. There is a protected sandy beach and a separate terraced badminton area. Prepare yourself for beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the water – easily enjoyed from the substantial outdoor deck overlooking the lake. Every morning, I disturbed a giant blue heron, and a few non-lethal snakes as I made my way down to the floating dock at the water’s edge.
The WiFi is solid, so we could work or WhatApp our friends. The sauna and pool table were well used. The place was clean. And we were well informed, before and during our stay.
If you like big screens for movies, the basement has a wonderful home theatre. The mosquitoes can be a problem in June – so bring bug netting if you want to go for long walks through the forested lands surrounding the cottage.
Highly recommend. Would definitely return – summer or winter.
We had such an amazing time at Mark’s cottage! His property had everything you could possibly need to enjoy our time in the woods. The amenities were top notch with access to a sauna, hot tub (which we enjoyed every night!), a fleet of boats, a fire pit, a projector, a bar, and plenty of spots to hang out inside and out. It was equipped with everything we would need indoor as well. It was impeccably clean and had many luxurious features. Mark was very prompt with communication and ensured we had a comfortable stay.
We would absolutely return to stay again! Amazing spot for a great price!
My wife and I had a wonderful time at Cichon Cottage for a much needed getaway! We loved the remoteness of it! The cottage itself is spectacular! The outside is beautifully landscaped and designed. And the inside is something else! It’s well laid out and all the extra amenities (hot tub, sauna, pool table, etc…) make it that more awesome. We really liked the zoned stereo/speaker system. I connected my phone to the receiver and I was able to play my music inside and outside on the deck. No need to bring a Bluetooth speaker. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck watching the blue jays fly in and grab peanuts off the rail, seeing the belted kingfishers diving into the water. One morning we woke up and saw a beautiful blue heron strolling along the beach looking for a snack to nosh on. And who doesn’t love hearing the loon call? We also, enjoyed taking the boat out fishing. We caught a few small mouth bass, the biggest being 2 ¼ lbs. Having a camp fire at night, enjoying a beverage and gazing up at the sky to see so many stars was stunning. We also, enjoyed spending time with some friends who joined us for a few days. Good times!
The host Mark was a pleasure to deal with. He was easy to communicate with and answered any questions or concerns we had.
We will definitely consider renting again in the future and will recommend your cottage to our friends.
Thank you Mark & Cheryl for sharing your beautiful cottage with us! We really enjoyed our stay.
Cheers, Steve & Jen Moses
We enjoyed a week at this quiet escape at the end of the summer. The cottage is beautiful and was well-equipped for our group of 8 (4 adults, 4 kids). The beach area was great for the kids to play in the water and there was ample shade by the lake - especially in the waterfront hammock. We will definitely consider this cottage for another getaway!
Our family had the most relaxing time together during our week stay. The lakefront property and cottage are beautiful by design and well maintained. This home has features that impressed all ages! Our grandson loved the walk in sandy beach and spent hours ‘on blue’ mat, in peddle boat and digging sand. We enjoyed the remote quiet lake complete with Kayaks and fishing boat. The rest of us enjoyed the spa like amenities of hot tub and sauna. A definite 10/10 from our family of 6 adults, 1 toddler and one newborn. The comfy Couch was also an honourable mention. Marks responsive communication was appreciated. Seamless process from booking to departure.
We were six adults and two small children and we had an amazing week at Mark and Cheryl’s cottage. The pictures do it justice. The cottage is clean, very roomy and had all the amenities needed. The lake is very quiet and the grounds are perfect for a family with small children. Mark was quick to respond to all of our questions. We would definitely consider returning and recommending this property. Thank you Mark for being a great host.
This is a beautiful cottage with many amenities. Highly recommended, get private setting. 5 star
Beautiful cottage, fabulous views, very quiet small lake. So many amenities, enjoyed them all, hot tub, sauna, pool table, large projection TV. Private setting with sand walk in beach. Water toys for use, loved kayaking. Long gravel road into cottage off the hwy. Highly recommended. Host was always quick to respond if we had any questions. Thank you Mark, from the Kennedy Family :)
Our 2 families enjoyed an extra long weekend in June at the Cichon cottage.
Booking and pre-visit emails were sent in a timely fashion with adequate details and Mark answered our questions via phone at check in. Cottage was clean and spacious for our party of 4 adults and 5 children. So many amenities that kept the teenagers busy. Dock and lake views were tranquil and peaceful. An amazing weekend of fun memories! Only complaint was the mosquito bites.
Two couples stayed for 4 nights as a winter vacation. Loved the sauna, hot tub and movie room. We enjoyed cooking and lounging upstairs. The BBQ is covered in an open porch. Bedrooms are very comfortable. We'll be very happy to return one day.
Spent a winter weekend here and it was great. Clean, well appointed, had everything you need. We were a group of 8 adults and were very comfortable. The bedroom/bed situation was as listed. Great communication with the host. Nice hot tub and sauna, perfect for winter. As it says in the listing, if you're going up in winter, make sure you're driving a vehicle that can handle winter conditions. The cottage road is very hilly and got very, very icy - was totally fine for SUV's, but cars could really struggle.
We spent the Family Day long weekend tobogganing, hanging in the hot tub, playing pool and eating s’mores while relaxing in front of the fire. The owners were super helpful, great communication and quickly responded to any of our queries.
Our stay at Highlands east was amazing. The cottage and area is beautiful. The size was great for our group of 7 with nobody feeling cramped. There was always a space to go to.
Would like to see the place in the summer. Thanks Mark
Beautiful hand crafted gem of a cottage nestled in nature
Mark's cottage is an absolute gem and a perfect place to have an enjoyable time with any group you're with - family, friends, etc. The cottage is thoughtfully designed with everything you could need for a relaxing and fun time including hot tub, entertainment systems, basement bar + pool table, etc. Overall, this cottage is an amazing place regardless of the season or weather outside.
Please ensure you bring AWD + Winter Tires if visiting in winter as the offroad is unmaintained.
We made the best choice in booking this cottage! The place was spotless you could tell the owners have pride in it. if your looking for that nature feeling, this is the place! it has everything you could possibly need and more!
The view is breathtaking.... definitely will come back again❤️
We had a wonderful week at the Cichon cottage! The cottage is extremely comfortable, and the amenities (waterfront, kayaks, canoe, hot tub, sauna, pool table,…) kept all family members engaged and happy! The AC was also a blessing since the weather was really hot an humid!
Mark is an awesome host and immediately responds to all queries!
Would certainly recommend this property based on our experience!
Jocelyne and family
This is the second year we have stayed at Chicon Cottage. Great week away ! Beautiful, well maintained cottage with everything you need. Quiet lake and private beach. Mark again was a great host !
We had a wonderful two week stay at Cichon Cottage. The beach and waterfront were perfect for our kiddos who loved playing in the sand and swimming. The cottage was very comfortable,
tidy and had everything we needed. We had a power outage but the generator ensured there was no impact and Mark was very responsive and helped rectify the problem quickly. The cottage is a bit remote which is perfect if you are looking for a tranquil getaway. Would highly recommend.
