The best spot in Highlands! Only one block from Main Street and the Old Edwards Inn, this five bedroom house has a unique mix of modern and mountain and is wonderful for large groups or multiple families. Floor to ceiling windows and a huge back porch look over Harris Lake and Satulah Mountain. On the ground floor there are two suites separated by a living room. Each suite has two bedrooms and a full bathroom. Upstairs there's a large great room perfect for gathering. A fireplace, dining table for ten, modern kitchen, powder room, master suite with dual vanities, freestanding tub and shower and a massive covered deck round out the second floor. Two laundry rooms, WIFI. 65in HD tv. Off-street parking for six cars. This mountain retreat is just waiting for you!

Highly recommend!

I highly recommend this lovely home! It’s in the center of town but off the main drag so you have plenty of quiet and privacy. The house is beautiful, comfortable, and within walking distance of everything. A perfect spot to stay for our family wedding!

Great House in Downtown Highlands

Cannot wait to return to this beautiful property!

We were not able to enjoy this lovely home for long, due to the hurricane, but hope to visit again soon. The location is absolutely perfect, an easy walk into town, but set far enough away that it is private and quiet. A great layout for a large group of friends, with a big screened in porch that would be perfect for relaxing in the morning, or after a day out. Laird was a wonderful host and we hope to come back and try again.

The Highlands is a walking town and you can walk everywhere when staying at this property. Honestly, the location is perfect! The house is extremely cozy, well decorated and has everything you need. Hands down the best VRBO experience I have ever had.

Wonderful Highlands Stay

We stayed for a long weekend for our son's wedding at the Old Edwards Inn. This home was absolutely perfect. One block from the Old Edwards in and downtown, beautiful location next to Harris Lake, and clean and well stocked. The main floor is roomy, comfortable, and filled with exterior light. We will be staying here again. Thank you for a great stay

Wonderful visit

Our first time to NC! We REALLY enjoyed our stay!! Stayed with another family. Had plenty of space. The kids had the best time playing outside and by the lake. Excellent location. Walking distance to Main Street. We would love to come back!

Perfect location and gathering spot for friends!

We recently celebrated a friend’s birthday in the Highlands, and this home could not have been more perfect! Plenty of beautifully decorated bedrooms, spacious and comfortable living room, and adequately stocked kitchen. The views from the deck were wonderful, the neighborhood was quiet, and the best part was that we could walk everywhere within minutes. We parked our cars and didn’t need them all weekend. Thank you for sharing your awesome home!

Great location

The owners were WONDERFUL to work with. Very prompt in their replies to my inquiries. The location was fantastic. Loved spending mornings on the porch overlooking the lake. The kitchen was well stocked. The home was updated and fresh feeling. Plenty of space for our party of 10 to spread out, The beds were firmer than my liking but I would DEFINITELY consider staying there again.

Perfect Family Time

We traveled to Highlands for a wedding and stayed in this house. Our group came together from different places and we were able to have a delightful time together because of this house. The layout was absolutely perfect for us to gather at the table for meals, find our own space for a quiet retreat or getting ready, and even for watching the football game together. This house was was the first time I actually felt like I got my moneys’ worth on a vacation rental. We all have fond memories of our time together at this house.

Incredibly tasteful home in ideal location

We stayed at this property for the Highlands F&W festival and couldn’t have asked for a better house. I have rented many homes before so I have a baseline of what to expect, this house exceeded! Great mix of antiques and quality pieces, not cheap rental furniture. The layout is ideal especially with multiple couples as each group can have their own “wing”. We loved turning the fire on each morning and making breakfast while staring out at the pond. Location can’t be beat if you want the walk to town option without being IN town. Right by mountain fresh grocery which made for easy coffee runs. Also super close to the botanical garden and nature center which we did with kids. Plenty of towels and hangers too which is always so nice when traveling. We had one issue where I needed to contact Laird and she was not only extremely responsive but also considerate and helpful! We look forward to renting again!

Do not pass this up!

What a remarkable combination of in-town convenience and natural beauty and privacy. The fresh, bright, modern yet cozy house has a magnificent Kitchen/ living/dining room and porch on the upper floor facing over Harris Lake to the mountains beyond. All day long the sun moves through the rooms which have lovely windows capturing the views. And yet in the other direction, cleverly screened from within by the layout of the house is every bar, restaurant, spa or activity that In-Town Highlands has to offer. It is truly a remarkable combination that you will be hard pressed to find anywhere else in Highlands. Mountain Fresh Grocery, about 50 steps away, is essentially the house's pantry. Yes, you will love to cook here; the kitchen is brand new, very well appointed and fully included in the activity of the living/dining room. We celebrated Thanksgiving for 13 people in the house and had plenty of room for all the cooks and all the revelers! It was warm enough that we spent a great deal of time on the porch which is set up for eating and for lounging. In terms of sleeping arrangements, the layout is fantastic for the two families we had in residence. Two bedrooms either side of a shared sitting room downstairs (4 bedrooms total on the first floor) afforded privacy and a place to retreat to read quietly or the children to have their own shows and games. The upstairs master shares the same views over the lake to the mountains as the living/dining room and porch. Depending on family size, the house could work for 3 families without a hitch. We parked and got back in the car only once to take a hike at White-side Mountain. We walked to the spa, ice cream and ice skating, library, bars, restaurants, mountain fresh, you name it! The children fed the geese and ducks and the nephews fly fished in Harris Lake. We came home refreshed but slightly depressed that our house was not the same as this one! We will be back, no doubt.
