"Breakfast was good, staff attentive and helpful. However, my room was serviced on my first night. I got back to the hotel and when entering my room, the bed hadn't been made, tea bags etc not replenished, bathroom not cleaned. I was most surprised as I haven't had this before."

"Bathroom in severe need of decorating, bedroom also needed a makeover."

"Great hotel, delicious food and very peaceful and quiet location with excellent parking!"

"I’d booked and paid for a room via Expedia. When I arrived I was told that I would not be staying there as they were fully booked and they had no rooms available. They claimed that there had been a change of ownership/management the week before and even though I myself had only booked two days before my arrival they denied any knowledge of my booking. I was left trying to find an alternative place to stay at 7pm on a Saturday night. Beware of pre booking if this is how they now treat guests....

"Very nice downstairs room, including a very cool ceiling and a cozy wonderful warm atmosphere. The room was smaller than we expected, including the toilet, where it was hard to maneuver between the toilet and the sink. However, we managed just fine and we thought it was very good value for the price. Breakfast was wonderful!"

"So, soo nice! Really well kept. Loved our stay!"

"Clean room. Fine breakfast."

"Breakfast was good quality. My room was up three sets of stairs in the attic. While of a good size, it wouldn't be easy carrying a suitcase to the room."

"Super efficient and friendly staff"

"Room was clean and evening meal was excellent. Breakfast was good but quite expensive but really enjoyed our 2 night stay"

"Nice hotel, was aged in places, nice staff. Good use of facilities"

"Easy to park"

"This rambling old place has a lot of character, and some eccentricities. I have stayed here several times and never had a reason to complain. I am an elderly woman travelling alone and would not keep coming back if my rooms were not clean and very comfortable. The staff are always friendly and most helpful. There is only limited parking but as yet I've had no problem - I understand that there is a public car park nearby, and also roadside parking is not difficult. A glass of wine beside the open...

"Nice stay in a room that was probably a mew before. Simple glazing for the windows. Did not bother us as we were is September."

"The bed was ok, it was a single, lots of storage, kettle with tea bags, tv and a safe. Bathroom light was automatic so goes off if you're in the shower, where there was no shower gel or soap. The internal stairs are fine but getting out the fire escape for out of hours access is where it's tricky. There's a balcony out there with seating. Fine for short stays and there's a bus stop outside for when it runs."
