"I think very few gaijin go this far out. Some of the communication was difficult but the staff tried really hard and we enjoyed the stay
Hard to navigate getting to and from major stations and it snowed one day at end of March
Overall I’m glad we did it for the experience to be immersed in Japanese culture.

"Everything about the accommodation was excellent, especially the staff! Despite the communication struggles, they were very helpful and provided great service during my stay. The free shuttle service to the ski resort was also extremely useful as they would drive you to your desired resort and pick you up at your specified time.
Without a car, there is limited access to any surrounding towns. There is a bus but it’s relatively infrequent. However, staying in is also great due to the 24 hour...

"The room was spotless and the staff , and especially a young woman there (Shirona?); was especially helpful. The area the hotel is situated in is awesome and next to public transportation. The onset was nice too! Thank you! "

"We really enjoyed our stay at Fairfield Marriott. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and had a modern layout- the beds were so comfortable. The onsite parking was very convenient as we had a car, and the communal kitchen was especially great for heating up meals. They also had a coffee machine available for guests to use, which was a nice touch. We’d happily stay here again!"
"Room little dated but extremely spacious, and very clean. Only comment is lack of USB port. Buffet was adequate but missing the ‘wow’ factor. Property was little far from train station, I think it would be much convenient if the shuttle will bring guess back to hotel instead of just one way to the train station."
"The room was absolutely beautiful, the private bath was so lovely in the cold night air. The staff were all so friendly and attentive, it really felt like they had thought of everything! We would definitely stay here again
The only downside is that when arriving, the driveway/road up to the hotel is completely gravel so it was very hard to get our suitcase to the hotel. We ended up getting a taxi back to the train station at the end of our stay and that was much easier. Strongly recommend not walking to the hotel from the train station if you have a big suitcase like we did"
"Amazing experience! Onsen, rooms and allover environment was superb. The meals served were carefully prepared with an exquisite presentation.
Staff is very kind and helpful. They’ll shuttle you to and from Nikko station to the Ryokan as well as guide you to the bus that takes you to Keyon. falls.
In addition, the Ryokan plays calming music in the hallways and reception area. Gift shop is adorable and they add a special touch to putting your name on a plaque visible at the entry way into the Ryokan. We will miss this facility and hope to return again. "
"This property was beautiful, I wish I could have stayed longer. Great kitchen, spa room with bath, everything you needed and everything felt brand new. Location was a bit out of town and was either a bus, taxi or a long walk uphill. This was my favorite property in Japan. I would definitely stay longer next time. "
"This was my 3rd time staying here, great location a few min walk from the train and bus terminal, warm comfortable rooms, friendly helpful staff, it's a shame they changed the breakfast service, the curry and rice were excellent before... I'd definitely recommend eating at yuba komachi while in Nikko, delicious chicken cutlet curry, very good price and lovely staff, 2 min walk from the hotel "
