  • A photograph of the famous Tori gate in the water on Miyajima Island. Very easy access to the beach - just watch out for the deer. While I was taking this picture a deer was going through my camera bag and heading off down the beach with one of my filter holders. A fantastic island for photographers and tourists in general and well worth an overnight visit if you're going to Hiroshima, as it's only an hour away, and free to get to if you're on a JR rail pass.

Lovely staff. We had a spacious, spotlessly clean room. Tea kettle available with green tea. The most exceptional things about the hotel are the staff and the cleanliness of this traditional type of accommodation. The onset was a nice bonus in a very economical room central to everything on the island.

Beautiful ryokan style rooms with lovely warm duvets on comfy futons. Within walking distance of the ferries. Our hosts were very gracious, with lots of suggestions for dining. Next trip I will definitely stay a couple of days at Surakaya.

LOVE Sakuraya!!

We loved this little hotel on Miyajima Island! It was so cozy and had everything we needed. Even the tiny shower had amazing water pressure and was so cozy and nice. Definitely stay here if you're a traveler on a budget visiting Miyajima Island!

Staff were super friendly and helpful. The place was slightly old but the team has definitely kept the place in excellent condition and our stay here was super comfortable! Amenities and facilities were good. Our room's view was awesome, overlooking the sea. Overall, was a truly positive experience and would love to return to Sakuraya if we ever came back to Miyajima!

Sakaraya was incredibly convenient, within a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal. Staff were very accommodating,helpful and kind. The room was large and the futon mattresses were comfortable. Breakfast was excellent! Everything you need for a short break away from Hiroshima, in a beautiful, historic area.

A beautiful property with truly lovely staff. It was super clean and the room was a generous size. Do yourself a favour and book an ocean view room. Spending a night on Miyajima is a wonderful way to take in the island. I highly recommennd Sakuraya!

We had the ocean view, beautiful settings, large room, comfortable bed/pillow. only thing is bathroom is extremely small, public bath is very nice. Staff are very helpful and we really enjoyed their hospitality. They'll serve breakfast for 500 yen, worth the price. Definitely recommend.
