It was such an amazing stay! We all had the best time. We made memories that my kids will remember forever. It is a cozy, quiet spot that will help you relax and unwind. Definitely recommend!
The place was comfortable and relatively clean. The area is quiet but we apparently came at hay balling time which caused a lot of in and out on the property. Not really a problem but we didn’t know what was going on for a while. The “treehouse” was perfect for our young adults. There was a bit of confusion on the listing. It said two bathrooms. It didn’t say that it was one in the house and a bathhouse out by the treehouse. All I’m saying is that it was misleading a bit. We'd come back when back in the area.

Not a place to stay with your family
The good:
- The beds were very comfortable & supportive for a bad back.
- The house was spacious
- The area was beautiful
- Check in was easy, the owner was responsive & driving directions were clear.
- Good Wi-fi. Smart TV let us log into streaming services.
- Plenty of dish soap, paper towels, shampoo, etc. lots of random things you might forget to pack.
- The treehouse room was cute & cozy.
- The pond is full of frogs.
The bad:
- The oven was plugged into an outlet connected to a switch that also controlled the kitchen light. If you turn the light off, you turn the power to the oven off. It’s a gas range so this also turned off the pilot light.
- Ants all over the counter
- Strong smell of mildew
- Unlocked cabinet with hunting & fishing supplies (ammunition, knives, miscellaneous) in the room with the bunkbeds.
- Dirty pots and pans in cupboard
- Dirty dish towels left in kitchen.
The initial instructions were that there was a key in the lockbox and also a code on the kitchen door. When we arrived the lockbox was open with no key. We did use the code to get in, but were uncomfortable knowing the key was missing. I asked about the key and then was told there wasnt a key, but that is not what was first said. The smell when walking in was not right. It smelled of dead animal. We could not stay, it felt unsafe and unclean. The host stopped communication after we advised them we could not stay.

Good for a fishing cabin, but not much else
We rented this property for 5 days and 4 nights while we were in town for family day and graduation at Ft. Leonard Wood. The good thing is that it's only about 20 minutes to base and other city amenities. We were prepared for the experience to be more like glamping, but still felt the listing was inaccurate. For example, there was a dishwasher as mentioned in the listing, but it was not connected to anything. There were kitch towels, no drinking glasses (only coffee cups), and only deodorant for basic toiletries. The stove, as another reviewer mentioned, only worked if the light was on. The wifi worked when we first connected, but then about an hour later, the network completely disappeared for the remainder of our stay. The bedrooms were a weird layout. To get to one, you had to go through another. To get to the only bathroom in the house, you had to go through a bedroom. It was a mild compromise on privacy, but something we wish we knew ahead of time.As for comfort, there were only ceiling fans (that only worked with the lights on) and 2 window air conditioners. The second bathroom was outside in a shed type structure, but the grass was not cut around it. It also had zero ventilation. The worst was the house toilet backing up as soon as we arrived. A plumber came out, but was mistakenly sent away. Instead of getting another plumber, we just had to use the outside bathroom for our stay. At least the host was polite and quick to respond.
This was a nice get away for our family. 30 min from fugitive beach. Plenty of room for 6 adults and 2 babies and we didn't use the bunk beds so more could have stayed. Be sure to get your supplies before you come because there is no where close. The stop n go has drinks but the resources are scarce. This was a quiet county location.
We had a great time at the Hollering Pines!
Perfect to start a bonfire and fish. Lots of conservation area trails and river access to explore within 5 minutes. 10/10 it’s a must!
Great views, beautiful pond! I'll definitely be coming back for the fishing access. Plenty of hiking trails in the area and a couple of caves close by.
