Woodhouses Bastle Bastles, such as this one at Woodhouses, were a poor man's tower and barn in one. Here it can be seen along with a small cow house. This Bastle is dated 1602 with initials of William Potte over the lower doorway. It was restored in the 1980's and is open to the public.

Nice clean rooms. Loft bed needed to be moved slightly because the person banged her head on the beam when getting up. We moved the bed back when we left. Kitchen was very well equipped. Good location for town and restaurants.
