A lovely cottage in beautiful location. It has all the facilities and more. Lovely host with lots of good information/recommendations. Will be returning.
Fantastic property with a dream bedroom. On a farm but no noise at all. Owner called as soon as we arrived to say hello which was great. Unfortunately weather was awful for our stay but still managed to walk a little and dry off in great local pubs.
The host was really friendly, helpful and warm. The cottage was lovely and really comfortable in the most beautiful scenic area. We would definitely return.
Really nice cottage, clean and has everything two people need in a fabulous location with so much to do nearby. Very much enjoyed our stay.

Disappointing
Cottage was very dark and musty. Cobwebs around the cottage which I would have expected to be cleaned. Sofa bed was difficult to set up and mattress was not in good repair. Host approached us on two occasions during our stay, once about lifting the net curtains which was done to let in light and also for use of lighting outside of the house.
Town was absolutely beautiful and just a short walk with lovely views.
We had a lovely weeks stay in this cosy barn, perfect for the 2 of us. There were lots of wonderful walks on the doorstep or within a 10 minute drive. There was safe storage for our bikes too and we also had a couple of days out cycling the Monsal, high peak and Tissington trails - amazing views. Lovely 15 min walk into Castleton, away from roads, with good choice of pubs there.
Maeve was so friendly and welcoming. All in all a lovely holiday and would recommend.
Lovely accommodation in a very quiet and peaceful area of the Peaks. Ideally situated for the walks we had planned and Maeve was a lovely host. The dogs are super stars as well!!
Shippon cottage is beautiful. Its cosy, comfortable and nicely furnished. The bed was very comfortable. Maeve was really friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the walk down a very quiet lane to the pub at Castleton and there are numerous pleasant walks directly from the cottage. Highly recommended
Stayed here for a few days and couldn’t fault our stay in anyway. The cottage was amazing and the host was just As amazing. First time at the Peaks and we will definitely be back and will definitely stay here.
Relaxing two nights in Shippon Cottage at Spring House Farm. The cottage was clean, tidy and had a great homely feel. We didn't want to leave. Maeve was a great host and made us feel extremely welcome. We were also pleased to meet the Daschunds and their six new born puppies. We will be returning.
The location of the cottage is fabulous and very much centric to all walk routes. Castleton has fabulous restaurants and cafes, we didn't have one meal which we did not enjoy. We will definitely be back.
We loved this cottage !! The peace and quiet is to be recommended. It's also close to Castleton for great pubs and shops, in particular a little bakery with gorgeous food. The walks around the cottage were superb. Will come again
Cosy but spacious cottage in a stunning location. Toasty warm and very comfortable. Walk or cycle from the front door. Castleton is about a very pleasant 15min walk via bridleway. Lots of great pubs and cafes to eat and drink in.
Fantastic holiday, my wife and I had a great time during our week long stay at the end of July/begining of August 2019. The cottage is lovely and has all the amenities we wanted, great to be able to take our two dogs to this lovely location - beautiful hill walks straight out of the door and Castelton easily accessible on foot, lots to see there and a number of good places to eat or have a drink that were dog friendly. Maeve was very friendly and helpful but never intrusive, Perfect place to explore the Peak District!
Lovely cottage with everything you need. Idyllic situation on a farm with dogs and horses - lovely old world charm. Maeve is a super host, very welcoming and helpful. Castleton is only a 15 min walk away with plenty of pubs and local attractions. The garden just outside the cottage was perfect for breakfast and lazing in with a gin & tonic after a busy day out & about. Location is ideal for exploring the area and will be back again.
