"From the free water and free breakfast (and 5E credit towards a "welcome drink"), this value-conscious hotel delivers comfort and convenience to the road-weary traveler. Front desk staffed by at least one fluent English speaker, generous breakfast buffet with leisurely weekend hours. Spacious bathroom with walk-out shower. Parking adjacent to hotel. After a week of Air BnB key exchanges and post-stay clean ups, it was nice to stay in a real hotel for a change. The restaurant had a series of eight colorful (abstract-ish) portraits that caught our attention. When none of the other guests could identify the subjects, we checked with the front desk, who promptly gave us the information we wanted: The "Kunst faces" of the Bauhaus movemet (early 20th century) included Wassily Kandinski, Walter Gropius, Gertrud Arndt, Paul Klee, Laszio Mohly-Nagy, Gunta Stolzi, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Lyonel Feininger, and Brund Taut. "We had a wonderful stay in Erfurt. As a group of 9, we required 3 rooms and Nancy and the rest of the staff were so kind and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable by upgrading our rooms. My German isn’t very good (OK, it’s basically non existent), but Nancy was patient with my attempts and happy to explain things in English. Our visit coincided with the Erfurt Oktoberfest which was just down the road. We had a lot of fun at the festival. The hotel is across the street from the Petersberg Citadel, which was marvellous to explore. Our visit coincided with the Erfurt Oktoberfest which was just down the road. This was loud during the day but did not extend beyond 11pm (we stayed at the festival until then anyways!) I ended up in the penthouse suite which offered nice views of the town. It was a great suite for everyone to meet and play cards. Lots of chairs so all 9 of us had a seat to play. It was alone on the floor, so it was quiet and I heard no noise (I cannot speak to the rooms on lower floors that the other members of my party had). The bed was soft and pillows were good. I had a great sleep. Bedroom was equipped with a fan which was definitely appreciated given the got quite warm during the stay. Bathroom was clean, well equipped, and had heated floors. Absolutely loved the bathroom. Kitchen was well equipped and we made use of the plates, cutlery, and cups. Did not use the element so I cannot speak to it. "Great breakfast buffet. Nice bar. Excellent spa facilities with indoor pool, 50°/70°/80°/90°C sauna, Serail room, and massage. No A/C can lead to very hot room temperatures on the top floor on a hot summer day. Insufficient parking when hotel is sold out. No obvious option for overflow parking."

"Hotel Herzog Georg is a real gem hidden in rural Germany. The size of room is larger than a standard European room and we were very happy to have 2 large size doubles for my wife and 15 yr old son. Breakfast was massive European style and quality was superb. Lots of walking opportunities around town with site seeing and hiking just a short drive away. A couple notes, not much English spoken here, or in town at all. People were extremely gracious and we didnt have any issues, but just be aware. Also there are limited hours for the reception and if you think you will even be close to showing up after 7pm local time, reach out and coordinate how to get room access. We did not do this (our fault) and struggled to get ahold of the reception after hours with our US phones. Overall I would def stay here again if I was coming to the area."

"I did not like that breakfast has an additional fee of $20. We ended up at the bakery down the street. The rest was ok. The location is great and so are the wellness offers. A little confusing as they are all over the property. "

"Amazing time , we loved the Porsche decoration , and to top it , they had a classic Porsche meeting the day of our stay! We will def stay again , when we are back in Germany! Super centric as well, so you can stop by on a long drive ! "
