House was wonderful and even better than represented. Updated and clean and comfortable and warm. And perfect location for a ski weekend. Stay here!!!!
We spent a nice fall weekend in Hunter. The house is close to town and restaurants, but slightly up the hill in a beautiful setting. There was plenty of room for us to spread out and we enjoyed the hot tub and the view. Looking forward to returning for a longer stay!
Bruce has a wonderful home with plenty of "family" space. Clean and well maintained, we enjoyed several days of skiing (very cold!) and time with kids and grandkids. Plenty of beds and bathrooms for everyone - and a hot tub after a cold day on the slopes is "warmly" appreciated!
Comfortable place to stay very close to Hunter Mountain
The house was very comfortable for our 2 families (1 adult and 2 kids each) and Bruce was a super responsive host. The only issue was when we arrived, the master bedroom wasn't clean (dirty sheets, shower and bathroom counter) though the rest of the house was clean. The hot tub and outdoor deck were a very nice addition to our stay and it was great to only be 5 minutes away (via car) from the slopes. We would definitely stay again.
We had a great time at Bruce’s house at Hunter Mountain. The house is in a great location with views of the slopes.
The house was clean and had all the amenities needed. The kitchen is great as a gathering spot after a day out.
Bruce is an excellent host and super easy to work with.
Very easy to rent and communicate with the owner, Bruce. House is beautiful, spacious, and cozy! My kids loved the hot tub! It was amazing after a day on the mountain. The location is perfect! So close to everything. Just minutes from a super market, restaurants, stores, the mountain, and hiking trails. Great find!
This property is in a beautiful location and has a lot to recommend it. It is big, has four bedrooms with a bathroom for each, and plenty of room inside. It has a great system of decks, and a huge hot tub. Inside there are fireplaces to keep you warm, and a fire pit on the deck. All in all a great place to stay. It could use a deep cleaning, but otherwise a very comfortable home. The setting is great for mountain views in the fall and skiing in the winter.
What an amazing home. Nestled in the woods, surrounded by beautiful trees with views of Hunter, yet convenient to everything (including Elka Park where we were for a memorial). The house is so spacious we all had room to spread out while coming together at the dining room table of10 for dinner. Bruce could not be more accommodating and made every step of the way easy. We can't wait to go back.
Communication with Bruce was fast and easy. The house has everything and then some. A beautiful deck with large hot tub was the highlight. My wife and I felt at home immediately when we arrived. Every amenity you could think of. Great location, 5 minutes from town and right across the street from Hunter Mountain. Would highly recommend.
We stayed at this property for a group trip of 11 people—a number the house is clearly advertised to accommodate. While the house does have some nice features like a spacious layout and a hot tub, several major concerns made our stay uncomfortable and disappointing. The microwave was held together with duct tape, and the tape eventually fell into the open flame on the stovetop, which caught fire. There were large amounts of mouse droppings inside the kitchen cabinets, which was deeply unsanitary. One guest tripped on an unstable step, which we later learned the host was already aware of.The dishwasher was non-functional with water not draining and dirty dishes left in from the previous stay.We informed the owner about these issues, hoping for a reasonable conversation. Instead, we received a response that deflected responsibility and focused heavily on the number of guests and the price we paid—both of which were in line with the property listing. Instead of acknowledging the problems, the owner accused us of exaggerating in an attempt to “squeeze a few dollars” out of him, which we found extremely disrespectful and dismissive.I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it’s important that future guests are aware of what to expect. As it stands, I cannot recommend the property without caution.
Bruce's home is Hunter is a special place to spend some time away from the city. The house is spacious and the rooms are all comfortable and welcoming. The backyard and back deck with hot tub are very special with beautiful trees and moss covered rocks with a winding deck with several private spots for a morning coffee or to read a book. I would love to come back again sometime!
We stayed at this house over President's Day weekend. The house was clean and very roomy. The location was fantastic. The hill that the house is on is directly across the street from the entrance to Hunter Mountain. The interior is a little dated but it was fun to walk down memory lane and the selection of games that are in the house provided a great opportunity to discuss what things were like when we were growing up in the 80/90's. I would definitely recommend and rent again.
Great stay- stone’s throw to Hunter, short drive to Windham
Comfortable, spacious home with great views of Hunter. The new hot tub was the first thing we hit on arriving, and there was almost always one of us in it the whole long weekend. Bruce was easy, communicative, and accommodating throughout (though never pesty). Speakers inside and outside for après-ski tunes, with a good combo of open air spaces and a cozy den to take a nap. Had a great, relaxing 40th b-day weekend.
Our stay here was epic. The hosts were easy to get a hold of, and even let us check out late because of a snow storm. We can't wait to go back. Great woods area for the kids and dog!
Mrs. Fixelle. It was an incredible experience the weekend at your house. Everything in the house covered our expectations. Despite the rainy during the weekend we found a lot to do. I highly recommend the stay at Mrs. Fixelle's house.
We, a group of cousins (4 adults and 4 teenage girls) stayed at the Fixelle’s home which is about a 1-2 minute drive from the parking lot of Hunter Mountain.
Their home has a large, fully stocked kitchen for anyone who decides to do some cooking. There is a grill right off of the kitchen on the amazing deck that is built into the natural setting of rocks on the land. Our teens used it as their setting for the perfect photo shoot of selfies :) Two large tables for the whole family to sit together and enjoy a meal. The living space off of the kitchen includes a fireplace where we gathered for games every night to relax after a day of skiing. And there is a second large space to gather as well. The home is very clean and we all felt super comfortable there for our five day trip.
The hot tub was not working during our stay. Bruce mentioned just prior to our arrival that he had sent in someone to repair it, but it was not functional for us. This was a huge disappointment as we only considered homes to stay in that offered a hot tub. This would have made our stay five stars had it been available.
Making the reservation was easy and quick. However, We did not realize until after getting the confirmation and paying for it that if you have more than 5 guests, there is an additional fee not clearly stated on the website. This was obviously our oversight, but wanted others to be aware.
Overall, this home provided everything that we needed for the much anticipated escape after a year of stress and chaos in the world.
Thank you Bruce:)
The other reviews are right - the pictures don’t do this place justice! The house was perfect for us- five friends (and one dog!) getting away for a cozy long weekend. The hot tub was wonderful on cold nights!! The only problem was that the sheets in the master bedroom had not been washed. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things - we washed them and all was well. Thank you Bruce and family for a wonderful weekend- we will definitely be back!
The house was gorgeous and had everything we needed for a wonderful long weekend--spacious kitchen and dining area to accommodate plenty of cooking and eating, fireplace, and of course hot tub with a view! Bruce was also super responsive to messages and any questions we had.
The house is huge. Plenty of room for everyone. Gorgeous view of Hunter mountain. We loved sitting by the fireplaces. The owner was easy to get a hold of and responsive to our needs. You’ll love it
