Helpful friendly hotel

Lovely stay, very friendly and helpful staff, great local food. Need to remember to book a table for the evening if you want food and be their early if you want to find somewhere to park as limited parking.

Lovely hotel in a great location with amazing staff who were so helpful and did whatever they could to make my stay as great as possible. Breakfast finished at 09:15 which was a little early for my liking when on holiday, but the breakfast itself was lovely.

Perfect spot in Ilfracombe.

We had an amazing long weekend at Carlton Hotel. The room was spacious, very well maintained and incredibly comfortable. Michael was the perfect host and gave great recommendations on where to visit locally. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant on the first evening, the food was perfect with great service. We can’t wait to return!!

Dont judge a book by its cover!

on arrival the hotel looked a little tired from the outside, however, we were pleasantly surprised on the cleanliness and the decor of the hotel was inside. Our room was comfortable and the bathroom very clean. The breakfast menu was very very good and the hotel staff very friendly and helpful.

Lovely hotel. Rooms were spotlessly clean as was rest of hotel. Nice to have fan and water in the room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and so much choice. Definitely not a 2 star hotel should be a 3* or even 4*. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Great place to stay

An o/night stay to enjoy a performance at the Landmark. Will book for more than one night next time! Friendly & efficient service. Good menu. Clean. Close to everywhere!! Parking - first come first served Dog friendly.

Smart, refurbished, seaside hotel. Efficiency run by friendly welcoming staff. Well located in the seaside town Ilfracombe. Access to our room and facilities within were comfortable and good. Food was very good with wide dinner menu choices. Breakfasts were traditional with delicious haddock option, although we always missed the croissants. We enjoyed our stay and the friendly support of all the staff.

Great hotel but please park considerately

The car park is very limited in space and also relies on considerate parking. The staff were very friendly and helpful, although the welcome 'rules and regulations' seemed a bit severe. The restaurant food was very good. I had a steak (good steak well cooked) and asked for a blue cheese sauce. The restaurant was very quiet so the chef obliged. Many thanks, made the mel.

Very small room which was very hot and stuffy as windows can not be opened more than a few inches. Stained bed spread . Booked hotel because it had parking but we’re unable to get a spot, partially due to the parking area having no marked bays .

The hotel was exactly what I was looking for. Somewhere quiet but not to far from the water. The food was very good but the service for dinner was very slow and they forgot to ask me if I wanted a dessert. However, TBH they were very full and everyone seemed very young and inexperienced apart from the bar man. Breakfast had a lot to offer and most likes seemed to be well catered for. I love dogs but am allergic. I was a little worried before I arrived but there was nothing to worry about at all. If there had ever been a dog in my room then there was no sign at all. The room was excellently cleaned and the bed was enormous. The shower was excellent too with a lot of water pressure and enough hot water. I will go there again

Very clean and well kept hotel, very modern decor, bathroom and shower were excellent. Room was really hot with no a/c but fan provided. Rooms are on the small side Upon arrival they must have had issues with their system as they had mixed my data up with a previous guest who shared the same name. Had paid via hotels.com months prior to arrival and when checking out was asked to pay again! Staff apologetic. On arrival family had booked table of 4 for dinner however hotel wasn’t flexible in trying to cater for the other 4 even though hotel restaurant was far from at capacity, gave nice suggestions for other local restaurants to try. Breakfast was lovely other than serving cold coffee, neighbouring table also had same issue

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff but…See my review

The staff were all lovely and very helpful, the hotel was beautifully decorated and very clean. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was great with lots of choice and we had lovely meals in the restaurant during the 2 evenings of our stay. However, I booked a Queen room as the photos showed it had a table and chairs in the room which makes it more comfortable for sitting drinking a cuppa and reading etc. when we arrived there was just 1 chair in the room so we asked for another and a small table or to have our room changed. We were given another chair but there really wasn’t room for a table and apparently there wasn’t a room available with these in. We may as well have booked a double room which was cheaper. Also, a mirror is needed in the room that you can us with the hairdryer. There was a large mirror over the bed which is really the wrong place. We didn’t let these minor things affect our short break away and we enjoyed exploring Ilfracombe but the hotel really needs to consider what they show in their photos for different rooms.
