"It was a very special and unforgettable experience spending one night at a floating island hotel on Titicaca Lake, though the conditions were not that as good as staying in a "real hotel" in the city and it was freezing at night. "Alfredo and Mary were both so welcoming and hospitable for our stay on the floating island. They picked us up at puerto kalapajra Uros chulluni and we enjoyed a ride across the Lake to the home. Our stay was so peaceful and tranquil. The home prepared for the cold during the winter months. The hosts were accommodating and offered a dinner of fresh trout during our stay as well. Woke up to an amazing breakfast and view of the Lake. It’s a must stay to capture the experience of Lake Titicaca and Uros"
"This stay is on a floating island in Lake titicaca. As an experience it is amazing. However, be prepared that they only accept cash, the rooms are not heated, our stay on October 3rd 2024 was extremely cold. Nestor is a pleasant host, and gave us a tour of Uros island on our way back to shore.
Note that the showers have limited access to hot water, and the toilet is a dry toilet, also there is no WiFi and limited cellular signal.
Over all, the view and experience are amazing, but be prepared for an experience akin to camping, and be aware of the transportation limitations of being on a family run island in the lake. For those seeking adventure, this is great. For families seeking luxury, or even basic amenities, there may be better options."
