Novotel is a lovely hotel, Lovely & helpful staff, very clean and a nice feel, we will be coming back for sure fairly soon. More areas to visit. I would give this hotel 10\10 and we rarely give that score.... Mr & Mrs Reed....Thank you Novotel.

Very modern, clean rooms, and nice atmosphere. Only problem was staff. Mostly lack of. Had to wait a while because no one was there for checkin. After 10-15 min other (friendly) staffmember checked us in. Other minor issue was taxis. Staff wil not order them for you. You have to do this yourself. Although its not a problem i never had to do this in any hotel i’ve been to.

There are some great Positives about Novotel Ipswich. It’s nicely situated with the town centre (and restaurants) a short walk one way and the waterfront a short walk away the other way. The staff in the hotel are friendly and reception was welcoming. Cannot comment on the food as didn’t partake. Breakfast if pre-booked was £15.95 pp. there are options nearby instead. We had a room on the car park side of the hotel which, whilst not a great view, was at least quiet. The opposite side is by the inner ring road and may be noisy. The car park has signs indicating that it’s £20 per 24h to park. If staying don’t take any notice of that and instead pay at Reception £7 for 24h. Didn’t see any cheaper alternatives nearby. Room comfortable enough but my feeling was that it’s a borderline 4* and probably a high 3* as services and additions were limited. I found the guest WiFi poor in the room (3rd floor) and the TV

Feels like quite a standard business type hotel. The room was quite large and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I paid for breakfast which was ok, but not good value and I think a better breakfast can be found at a nearby cafe. Walkable to the centre of town and from the train station makes the location fairly convenient.

Disappointing

The hotel is tired with dirty carpets. The customer service at check in, reception and the bar were not very good. No expected added extras such as shower caps, water etc in the room. Stayed at Novotel in Leeds and it was lovely.

On arrival, we were given the wrong room. This was rectified however the room we were given had a terribly strong unpleasant smell. It came from the drainage. The hotel staff spray air freshener but this only masked the smell for a short anount of time. We were offered complimentary breakfast for our inconvenience. The size of our room was great and the staff did the best they could but overall the stay was very underwhelming. I will add that the staff at breakfast were particularly welcoming.

The room was a good size with plenty of faciities. I must admit though that the separate toilet was not ideal, especially as there was no hand basin in there. The bed was quite hard but not too bad. Our fridge was not working, the coffee machine only had decaffeinated pods and the safe door was stuck shut. Once reported to reception all were fixed very quickly. We were disapointed that the beer pumps were not in use at the bar as they were charging over £4 for a tiny bottle of lager. We only had one drink there! Breakfast was ok although the orange juice was so watered down it had no flavour. We probably would not stay again because we probably would not go back to Ipswich, Other Novotel's we have stayed in have been better.
