This is the second Barceló hotel we have stayed in this year, the other one at Marrakech.
This one is Istanbul is also excellent, friendly attentive staff, central location but not too near the noise of Taksim Square.
We were upgraded to deluxe room over looking the city scape.
Taksim Square is couple of minutes walk with the buzz and access to trams and streets for shopaholics and restaurants.
You can easily walk to the Karakoy and across the Galata Bridge to the old town area of Istanbul where you can visit all the main sites like Blue Mosque etc. We did it a day a relaxed pace but recommend catching taxi back as the streets that lead to the Bosphorus are very steep.
Only catch yellow taxis offering metered services, even some of them try to fleece you so beware. Also buy ferry ride to the Bosphorus bridge at reputable travel shops like Sea and Land Travel, they are reliable and cost €10 compared to the cowboys along the Galata pier who want €25.
May seemed like perfect time to visit the city. Not too hot. All n all a great city break staying at Barceló.
Names of a few staff that gave us super service:
Gurturk, manager extraordinaire who can be seeing mixing cocktails in the rooftop bar but also keeping busy and supporting staff at breakfast. It was nice to speak to you and your manager.
Beautiful Noor, beautiful Najouma who helped pick sweet fruits for me and the hard working and lady in white head scarf who made the omelettes for guests with beautiful smile.
