"Room was generally pretty clean, parking was free(!) and there was plenty of spaces. Pool looked a little green and a little gross but we did not use it. Breakfast was decent for the free continental-style and there was plenty of it up until the end. The breakfast serving space was super small and cramped, though, and very annoying with only a few people there. All told, it was a decent place for the one night we needed it. I will say it had more of a "motel" feel with a "hotel" price. $200 a night is steep for the quality but it's San Diego in-season, so it makes sense. Area felt reasonably safe but outside the hotel felt like I was in the middle of a kitchen surrounded by deep-fryers with old oil due to the multiple restaurants a stone's throw away. The smell was overpowering when we arrived in the evening. The room smelled fine, though. On the freeway side it is very noisy in the morning and I'm pretty sure a small child was being tortured directly outside of our room (not really, but the screaming was not human), waking my whole family earlier than we preferred. All to be expected, as we weren't staying at a five-star resort."

"The aesthetic is beautiful but after checking in, the spa could use some updating.. The adult pool had undies on the floor, bandaids on the pool floor. Just felt more attention to detail would make this 5 star… a pool attendant and small bar in the adult area would be amazing instead of QR code"
