"This hotel is the best place to stay in Kinigi/to gorilla trek! It’s the closest lodge to the Dian Fossey campus and women’s village, and the staff is exceptional. They are very friendly and helpful and went above and beyond. We loved that we’d come back to the hotel and they’d clean our shoes and give us a foot massage. They’d also get a fire going in your room while you are having dinner. We’d come back to bed with a heated bed (thanks to a warm water bottle they place in there) and a fire going. We felt we were in the coziest hotel room ever. The food was great too with an ever changing menu. I’d recommend getting the full board. It’d be hard to try restaurants at different lodges, so you’d save money instead of buying the meals separate. Last but not least, the super sweet dog Sparky. He added so much charm and welcomed all guests. We loved having him around so much. "

"Our time at My Hill Eco Lodge was deeply relaxing and truly memorable. The location is absolutely perfect — set on a hillside with what I believe are the best views of the Twin Lakes. From our room and balcony, it felt like we were perched above the lakes, giving us a sweeping, panoramic view that was simply stunning. Thanks to the large French windows opening onto the balcony, we could enjoy that breathtaking scenery right from our bed. The property is surrounded by natural beauty, and the atmosphere is serene and calming. What makes it even more special is the people. A huge shoutout to Vincent, the manager, and Esther in the restaurant. Both are incredibly warm and attentive. Vincent deserves special mention — he goes out of his way to ensure your stay is smooth. Every small issue or request is addressed with genuine care and speed. You feel like they truly want you to be happy and enjoy your time there. Yes, there are some stairs and steep walk, but it’s really manageable — and they’re always ready to help if needed. The food was great, and they even made our tea exactly the way we like it, which shows their attention to detail. Highly recommended for anyone looking for peace, gorgeous views, and outstanding hospitality."

"Beautiful hotel well located for hikes in the area. We stayed in the large cottage which is a very nice spacious option for families. Staff was very kind and accommodating (always went the extra mile) and as others have noted the food was really excellent. Light and healthy and tasted very fresh—the best food we had in Rwanda. "

"The house is a 15-20’ walk from the center. Difficult to communicate with the lady (no French, little English) but her husband speaks fluent French. Excellent breakfast, clean and spacious room."

"The hotel is positioned right across from the lake. Beautiful and tranquil property. Breakfast mostly fruits, eggs, juice, coffee and African tea. The rooms need upgrades, remodeling, better colors on the wall, better paintings. TV in the room did not work. WiFi here is terribly bad and horrible. Those things management and owners need to take into account and fix it. Also, when you pay for your stay thru Expedia they automatically receive notification that customer paid but when you check in they keep asking to show proof that you paid which is absurd and ridiculous. Other than that the place is beautifu. From hotel to city center by moto taxi is RFW1,000, don't pay more. Boat ride outside of the hotel is RWF15,000 for one hour. I would not recommend hot spring because is not hygienic, dirty and trashy. "

"We had an amazing stay at Ruhondo. The staff were all so welcoming and kind, particular mention to Jana 😊. The rooms are basic but clean and the beds are very comfortable. The food in the restaurant is fantastic. We had a lovely walk/hike along the lakeside and up into the village together with a gaggle of local children - more and more joined us as we walked 😊. The location is very peaceful and I would thoroughly recommend "
