About 40 minutes north through the long pine tree woods, we stumbled upon Stalag Luft 3, the original prisoner of war camp where the Great Escape occurred. Carefully watch for the small sign on the right just past the museum. "

"The hotel is a smallish size one, run by an extremely warm and friendly husband and wife team who make you feel very welcome. It has all the basic amenities, including provision for a very decent breakfast. The room was quite spacious, clean and well maintained, will all the basic amenities available. The location of the hotel is very good -- in a quiet neighbourhood, walking distance from the old town area of Gorlitz. During most days of the week, there is a small and interesting local market that is set-up in the square in front of the hotel -- an added attraction.
