2/5 Poor
Worst hotel for eco despite beautiful setting
"Let’s start with the good. The reception and restaurant staff were friendly and helped us where necessary. The beach was naturally beautiful and there was plenty of space to relax. The room was nice, clean and spacious. Only staff grumble was the spa which we booked and then they never reserved a slot for us so we had to wait a while for it to be set up.
Now for the bad. Away from the main beach area that was a lot of plastic waste, and cleared foliage dumped in refuse bags, clearly by the hotel as due to the set up and geography they were the only ones with access. On our first morning we got out of the hotel boundaries (certainly not signposted with the intention for people to do this) and we walked around the island to the local village. People were friendly and smiley. We got to another beach area and what can only be described as a plastic grave yard awaited us. It was horrific. Not just single use plastic but nappies, tyres, old furniture, fishing nets. So what has this to do with the hotel? Other than being part of the local community and seemingly doing nothing to help, they ran a polluting generator 24/7 where the village had solar panels. But the worst thing by far as the clear signage not allowing us to fill up water bottles. We were even stopped from getting water at lunch time as we had gone ala crate and not for the buffet. The ONLY was to drink water was to buy small
Plastic bottles every time. HOW IS THIS ALLOWED?! The whole thing was very upsetting"
