"Over all good"

"We loved our stay at Sabah hotel as a family of two adults and one child (9yrs old). We booked it for the pool mainly as we knew Sandakan town didn't have much to offer compared to other places on our trip. My daughter loved the pool especially the slides and they provide free pool towels which was great too. The rooms were cleaned daily and were very spacious and we had a pool view. The decor is a little dated and rooms a bit musty but the rooms had air con which was such a relief to get back to after a day in the heat. We used Sandakan as a base for our trips to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation centre and for an overnight trip to Turtle Island to see the baby turtles being released into the sea. Both were fantastic and I'd highly recommend! Sabah hotel is about 5 mins drive to the main town and as it's situated on a hill we used Grab taxis to get to and from the town as it was too hot to walk it with our daughter. Breakfast was included which was another big plus for us and it was buffet style and had lots of options. We ate a few times in the Plantation cafe during lunch or dinner and were impressed with the quality of food. Overall we loved our stay and would recommend to anyone. "

"Pros are proximity to the airport, and available free shuttle to the airport as well. Otherwise an average 2 star hotel. Cons Breakfast is a buffet style with Rice, Noodles and Vegetables, and Chicken. Eggs are boiled but almost RAW. You can toast your own bread with butter and jelly. Coffee is ok. The rooms are not very clean. Ours was a Non-smoking on the 4th floor, but it smelled like cigarettes. There is Hot water in the shower. Only one half used roll of toilet paper was available. You get bath towels, but no face or hand towels are available. The neighborhood around stinks like sewer but you can find a few places to eat. Overall the place is convenient for an overnight stay before your flight. "

"Cute eco lodge near attractions in Sepilok. Beautiful views in the morning and staff offers competitive rates on tours and transport. I appreciated the free shuttle to the Orangutan Rehabilitation Center. The property is not as pristine as the photos and I feel was overpriced for what it was."

"I found all the staff very helpful. The location is good for Orangutan, Sun Bears and the Rain Forest. The only elemwnt that was poor was I needed to amend my booking via Expedia and I still ended up being charged for one additional night, the cost was minimal, but that's not the point."

"Just needed an inexpensive Room for one night. This hotel fit the bill but it is an older property in a tropical place. When I turned the ab on (which I was tja kick for) a rather large Cockroach came flying out of the vent. I take these things in stride but others may not."

"Close to the airport, but far enough not to hear the noise. Nice clean room. Bathroom needs some re-thinking. Shops and restaurants nearby. No elevator to the rooms. "

"Only that some chalets were quite a long walk uphill to get to them so you needed to be fit but otherwise a lovely place to stay and staff so helpful and couldn’t do enough for you "
