A really lovely hotel, within walking distance of the beach and Skala centre. Rooms are small, but comfortable, although the AC does not get the room very cool, hence it’s hot at night. The breakfast is adequate, never changes so becomes rather boring , quality is fair. Staff are excellent and the pool area and bar for drinks and food are very good. There is no restaurant for evening meals or a guest lounge area if it rains. Overall, well worth a stay here but just lacks a few things that could make it great

Stayed for 7 nights. Hotel was very clean throughout, staff very friendly. Small hotel so not over crowded in pool area, which was great. Hotel is a 2 minute walk to main bars/restaurants but very quiet at night. Beach is directly opposite hotel. Plenty of parking if hiring a car. Would definitely stay again.

Makis has a fab location right across from a shingle beach and very close to the village of Skala. It’s beautifully decorated and the room we had was spacious and very clean. The bed was huge and super comfortable. Sheets and towels were changed regularly and the room cleaned daily. We loved the vibe at the beach bar and their great Hugo Spritz’s. Staff were really friendly and keen to help. We had a great stay all round.

In all honesty I think it's a 5/10. It's a bare bones, basic hotel and you can tell that they scrimp on a lot. On the plus side, the hotel is well located for Skala centre and has good car parking. The visuals of the building coming in are nice, and the staff were polite - cleaning and breakfast staff in particular. Breakfast is fine - good variety of fruit but nothing's particularly high quality, pastries were very dry, coffee is bad and the only tea available was English breakfast. The rooms are very basic - like a business / convention centre type hotel. What really resulted in lost points for Makis was how dated things felt, the state of disrepair of some things, and the small details that they scrimped on to save a buck. A really noticeable one was that no water was provided in the room after night 1 - especially given that the tap water shouldn't be drunk on Kefalonia. A small bottle of fresh water per guest is the bare minimum. Also missing from the room was a box of tissues, a vanity kit, a beach towel to take with you for the day... The bathroom smelled musty and had a broken toilet roll holder and big chip missing from the door frame. Security stickers are all over the place, and a big bright blue emergency exit light above the door which doesn't turn off at night. Really feels business centre-esque, not holiday vibes. Old phone, small TV, dated tiled flooring, really loud fridge... It needs a lot of updating and attention to detail to make for a nice holiday stay.

We stayed at the Makis Hotel for 5 nights. We loved the fact that it is right next to the beach and also a short walk from the centre of Skala. The room was stylish and clean and breakfast was plentiful and varied. There is plenty of parking.

We had a lovely time at Makis Hotwl and would definitely recommend. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The facilities are nicely laid out and well maintained. We attended with a group and it worked so.well for all of us - late nights swims, great breakfast, rooms were nice, nice pool and pool bar. The whole package. Only reason we didn’t get be 5 stars across the board was that is is not a five star hotel - but an excellent choice regardless.

Great Skala hotel. Nice beach area with loungers that require a fee but are serviced by hotel staff with access to a full bar and menu. Quality of drinks and food including breakfast were perfectly adequate but not the best to be found in the area. But staff, location, & ambiance were all excellent. Room was nice with a comfortable bed, subtle decor, and a lovely porch area that we left alone so the birds (house martins) could feed their babies. Great pool and bar area for relaxing.

We did enjoy our stay at this hotel during the month of June. It was relatively quiet. The hotel is well maintained and rooms are exceptionally clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The lady that cleaned our room daily was thoughtful and did an excellent job at maintaining the hotels high standards of cleaning. The air con and the WiFi were excellent. The hotel is well situated close to the beach and restaurants. There are some lovely places to eat and our favourite was the Old Village. All restaurants are a short walk and most are up a steep hill if you walking difficulties. It’s also worth mentioning if you do have difficulties walking ask for a ground floor room as there are no lifts to the upper floors. We did find breakfast underwhelming and much of it very basic and the quality was average to say the least. We went out and bought our own cereal. The coffee was awful. On a plus side melon , apple and oranges were available along with Greek yogurt ( we’ve had much better Greek yogurt ) . Staff in the restaurant were lovely and always friendly. Tea and coffee are only in your room for your first day. We went out and bought our own along with milk. We felt very safe at this hotel and in Kefelonia itself. We would stay here again and have no hesitation in recommending it.

Hotel had a boutique feel with beautifully appointed rooms. We were lucky enough to get upgrade so super spacious & with partial sea views. Directly opposite beach with comfortable sunbeds (would be nice if staying in hotel that there was a discount for hiring). Super friendly staff and happy to help with anything. Very convenient to walk into main Skala restaurant & bar area. Great parking facilities if hiring a car.

Having been to the Makis as a child with my family, returning nearly 20 years later having been largely to the Anassa (Klonis) hotel in Skala for many years, the Makis was a lovely stay. The room was clean and modern with a good bathroom. The staff were fantastic, The breakfast was great every morning (choice of cooked items which not many places do included), Atmosphere was relaxed and lovely. Skala is and always will be a fantastic place to visit for a holiday and refresh but it’s the local people who complete it. Thank you to everyone at the Makis :)
