"The property, where do I start?! It was amazing! From the initial walk in it had a wow factor about it, we met James, he was very helpful, with the convenience of being next door if needed. "Perfect as a couple of nights for a birthday treat. Feels like a mixture of Hogwarts and Downton and has a colourful history a secret army use and even a prison. Comfortable rooms, old-ish but nice pool and spa, but the highlight is the excellent food and service. Before cocktails in the library, and to work up an appetite, we used the free naps for the arboretum to find the American oaks from the civil war. There was a commercial conference in other rooms, and apparently it's popular with weddings - but the building and gardens are big enough."
