Waterfront Home with Pier

Formerly rented by the U.S. Secret Service for several seasons, we are now doing weekly & monthly rentals. Our waterfront home is surrounded by water and has ocean, island and lighthouse views on a quiet tidal cove -every six hours the tide goes out. Located on 4 acres in Cape Porpoise, a small fishing village in Kennebunkport. Our property is on the end of a private road so there is plenty of privacy. The house looks directly towards the water so at high tide you can take in the water views and feel like you are away from it all. We have our own pier and float on the property which you may use to tie up a boat -you can bring or rent a kayak, canoe or boat & explore the seven Cape Porpoise islands. A great place for kids to swim, or fish for crabs off the end of the pier. The pier is shared with a cottage which we also own on the property. The house and cottage are rented separately through VRBO. If you want both properties you can rent them together but they are listed separately on this website. The cottage property number on VRBO is 121128. The house and cottage are completely separate from each other, so you have privacy with more than 100 yards separating the two ( see photo) . The house has a fully equipped galley kitchen, dining room, family room and living room with water views. Sleeps 6. Three bedrooms: master w/ fireplace & water view. 2 full baths- one on each floor. Back porch & deck, front porch/ deck overlooks water. Sorry, No Pets.


Less than a mile to Cape Porpoise village, you will find restaurants, a grocery store, library and art gallery. It is a scenic walk to the local pier where you can fish or watch the lobstermen bring in their catch. A three mile drive to Goose Rocks Beach, Kennebunk beaches and Kennebunkport center.

Amazing Cape Porpoise Location

We had a wonderful time at this property, right on the shores of Cape Porpoise. The sunrises were amazing, and we enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and the picturesque village. It was the perfect place for a family getaway!

Beautiful Home

We absolutely loved staying in this home. It was very clean and ready for us upon arrival. The home has a wonderful view from the front windows on a quiet, dead-end street. It was perfectly located in Cape Porpoise a few miles from Kennebunkport, lobster shacks and the best beaches. We hope to be back soon!

Great location

We had a wonderful time staying at the house. We were able to visit so many great towns in Maine and experience a lot of what Maine has to offer. When we were not out, exploring, we were back at the house which was off the beaten path for quiet and privacy. The house had everything we needed. The house is located on the harbor, and it was interesting to watch the tides go in and out We could walk into town, which was a plus. Our host were very friendly and responsive.

Historic home on the pier

We had a wonderful week. The home was very clean, and nicely maintained, in a way that maintains its historic charm, but provides the comforts of modern day life. Much of the furniture seemed brand new. The views were beautiful, especially the sunrise from the master bedroom. Joan and Phil are so welcoming, friendly and genuine. Great location with easy driving access to town and beach.

Our family was very much looking forward to a relaxing and private get away from the city over the July 4th holiday. In reviewing the rental (with last minute cancellation) we thought that 4 acres of privacy on a dead end road with water views would be perfect for us. After the initial booking and deposit was paid, we learned that there is also a cottage on the property that was also rented for the same holiday weekend by what we were told was an "older couple" who never use the dock, etc would be there too but we would virtually have the place to ourselves. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The older couple who had rented the cottage did not keep their reservation so the owner, her family and their children's friends moved into the cottage for the whole week we were there and were still there when we left on July 11th. Cars up and down the drive way all week, their kids played on the dock days and evenings and one even parked next to the house we were renting so we had to park on the road one day after returning from a day at the beach. This was not what was expected and the communication from the owners was misleading about who would be using the cottage next to the house during our stay. We were very disappointed in this lack of courtesy and communication. The house itself was in a good location relative to Kennebunkport. This older home was nice, yet a bit tired in decor and linens are not furnished. The size met our needs well. There are window air conditioners in some rooms that kept the home cool when temps went up a couple of days we were there. The windows are crank open windows and some opened and some did not. We were permitted to leave our luggage on the porch and not enter the house until 3 pm because the cleaning service would not be finished until then. Cleaning service was not as thorough as I expected probably because the cleaning person arrived at 10 & left at noon as we watched her pull out of the driveway as we unloaded our things before heading to the grocery to kill time til 3 o'clock. Cleaning was a bit of a joke as dust was prevalent and the floors were not well cleaned at all but we made it work without complaint. We were just happy to be on vacation and out of the city. Other than these few bumps in the road, we enjoyed our Maine vacation. We will look more closely at rental details in the future.

Long Weekend Family Wedding

In town for a family wedding, this worked perfectly for us, adult grown children and elderly father. Very spacious downstairs, and bedrooms worked for our group. Would definitely rent again if back in the area.

My family of 6 stayed here for 4 days in the middle of June 2023. What a gem of a home on the water in Maine! Exactly as described. Lots of space both inside & outside the home. Very clean & neat. Supposedly the original house was built in 1843, and added onto since. Quiet location. Peaceful watching the tide go in & go out. Enjoyable viewing the various seabirds hunting & swimming in the inlet. Lots of wildlife & birds in the woods behind the house. It was chilly but beautiful, only raining on the day we arrived & the day we left. We got fresh seafood & lobster (OF COURSE) at Langsford Road Lobster & Seafood House on the street just across the inlet. Super yummy. We ran for exercise along the local roads, taking in all of the beauty around us. We enjoyed talking with neighbor Dan, who’s lived there 60 years & has good stories to tell. The hosts were super responsive and pleasant with which to work. Note that there will be folded clean sheets on top of all the beds when you arrive as you are expected to make the beds upon arrival (so that you know the sheets are clean). A 5-star VRBO for sure! Thank you for the great memories! :)

a wonderful house in a beautiful setting

This house is in a wonderful setting with captivating views. It is very peaceful. we enjoyed just sitting in the living room or in the enclosed front or back porch. It is only minutes from downtown Kennebunkport and some nice restaurants are close by as well. The place is clean and comfortable. The stairs to the second-floor bedrooms are a little steep so take your time using them. The owners checked in with us to make sure all was well.

Can’t wait to return!

Such a beautiful spot! There are so many inviting areas inside and out to while away the hours that we needed a longer stay to take advantage of them all. This older home was comfortable and well appointed - it should be noted though for us older folks that all the bedrooms are on the 2nd floor. The grounds and view exceeded our expectations which were pretty high already based on the photos provided. Watching the birds, tidal changes, and the night stars quickly became our favorite pastimes. It was a perfect jumping off point for day trips north and south but I would not have minded if we just stayed put on one of the porches. We all felt the same! To top it off, Joan was so helpful with our questions and made the perfect host. We are already talking about when we can return! Thank you Joan and Phil
