The Kewaunee Lighthouse represents the maritime heritage of the harbor while continuing to serve as a navigational beacon to Lake Michigan boating traffic. The property's period of historic significance begins in 1931 when it was established as a lighthouse and ends in 1959, the most recent year of its operation 50 years before the present.

The lighthouse personifies early twentieth century lighthouse architecture and engineering. It exemplifies design and construction methods used in building lighthouses and fog signal buildings on piers during that time period. This structure possesses its original location, setting and design, and embodies historical qualities of integrity in materials, workmanship, feeling and association. The lighthouse lantern room houses a historic fifth order Fresnel lens with an electric light that is currently used by the USCG as a navigational aid. The character and appearance of Kewaunee Pierhead light are largely unchanged from when it was established as an aid to navigation.

Excellent stay!

"This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel when we came into town. In general, we had a great day. The second time we came I left a note with our booking to have a pack and play in our room and they had already had it in our room before we checked in. The first time the breakfast there wasn’t the best but the second time it was better. I feel like there’s definitely room for improvement with the breakfast but overall, if you just need a solid meal before leaving back home, it’s not too bad. I really like those dispensers in the bathroom because they are full-size shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Most hotels give you those really tiny bottles that only last for like one hair wash. The rooms are super spacious and clean. Very minimal noise is heard. You can’t even really hear the other guests doors closing. I feel like the pricing is very fair. It definitely fluctuates like any hotel but in general, it is very fair pricing for such a nice place. I don’t know her name, but there is a younger gal with blonde hair that works upfront. I believe she works during the check-in hours and she is so nice and kind and always is happy and has a smile on her face. Will definitely stay again. "
