"We had an amazing time on the river! We had planned on going out to explore but it was so relaxing and inviting in the home we didn't want to leave. We ending up getting groceries nearby and eating in.The views and river were excellent. I did quite a bit of fishing and if crabbing is your thing they are abundant off of the pier. There is also a BP by Dollar Geraral that has bait. We also took an 8 foot inflatable circular water hammock to float in the river on. Lisa the host was an absolute pleasure to work with and we will no doubt be back to enjoy her family home. "

"We were attending a family reunion. Great to wake up and look out to see the water. So relaxing and serene. Just enough space to relax and unwind. I would however suggest to the owner to put some railings on the patio. We had a few seniors who need that extra support when stepping up. The grands loved fishing from the pier."

"We had a lovely stay, and it was very close to Fishing Bay Yacht Club, where my daughter was sailing in a regatta. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the beds were comfortable. The views and garden were breathtaking! Highly recommend this property!"

"It was a nice get away for our wedding anniversary. We were able to bring our dogs and use the private strip of beach a couple of cottages away. This was a great quiet trip. The only thing that could have been better is the AC in the cottage. A window unit is provided but with 90 temps it couldn’t keep up."

"We had a nice quiet week in this adorable and clean home just relaxing in the pool and spending time in the kayaks. We ventured out for some yummy Mexican food for dinner, ice cream in Reedville, and the nearby cafe to try their cappuccino and breakfasts but otherwise spent a nice family week playing games and swimming. "This house has beautiful views and it was only about 45 min to Williamsburg. It is on Hills Bay, which flows into the Chesapeake Bay. The water is very shallow and would be great for younger kids. We brought kayaks and enjoyed our time on the water. It would be fantastic for someone that owns a boat too. The water doesn’t have many waves, but we tied a party size float to part of the dock and all the kids, ages 10-19, loved our time there. Since I’m the first review, I think I might be the first renter since the purchase, but there was only one coffee cup and the kitchen could be stocked a bit more-plenty of dishes (and even plastic wrap, foil, trash bags, dish, and hand soap) but limited cooking utensils, cookware, and no containers for leftovers and such. Not a big deal, but might be to someone planning to cook quite a bit. The property managers were AMAZING and always quick to respond! Honestly, the best renting experience we have had! If you like seafood, The Seafood Shack and Richardsons are great! Southwind Pizza is wonderful. Make reservations for Thurs live music. The Island Stop has Chesapeake Bay Twinkies (jalapeños, cream cheese, crab, old bay, wrapped in bacon and glazed with old bay bbq sauce. Watch their fb page for when they have those. The shaved ice guy there is also super nice! You can see Deltaville (check out their minor league baseball schedule) and Gwynn’s Island from the house. Fireworks all around (we stayed on July 4th) were spectacular! LOVED it!"
