"My wife and I had a tremendous weekend in Donegal Town. The Abbey Hotel was a perfect base with the square right out front of the Hotel. The room was huge with a very comfortable bed. We were there to see Onoir, but the hotel also had live Irish music playing in afternoon and evening. It was great. But the real star is the Hotel porter, Patrick. "Good size of double room with extra single bed. Excellent view of the harbour. During the heatwave (26C) the lack of aircon was a downside. Friendly welcome from Christine on Reception. Good choice of hot or continental breakfast. The dinner was good but not great. Street parking was a little tight."

"The Good: The main hotel at Harvey’s Point, as well as its restaurant and bar, were fantastic. The hospitality and atmosphere in the main property were very high quality, setting a wonderful standard. The Bad (The Lodge Experience): Unfortunately, The Lodge feels like the neglected stepchild of the property. "It was hard to find parking, super hot, the hotel was a sauna, we couldn’t open the windows and were given a small fan! The lobby and bar which only had the A/C in the entire hotel was filled with the customers. Restaurant was the only plus in the whole place"

"Great location. Comfortable beds. Only issue was that it was pretty warm. There was a fan provided but it didn't give much relief. Don't understand why the windows don't open more."
