The back deck has great dusk, dawn and overnight sounds, including turkeys, owls, loons, all sorts of other birds, and out of our 4 night stay I heard coyotes 1 night. The host was very helpful in my time of need despite his family being on a very important trip out of town. If you’re not quite familiar with Lake Gaston/Roanoke River, make sure you understand the cabin’s proximity to the water and get a better idea of what to expect. "
