We really enjoyed our stay here. The property is as listed and in great condition with comfortable beds and all kitchen amenities. We didn’t need to contact the owners as the key safe system works very well and we had no issues during our stay. Lots to do in the area and the local beach is lovely. The information book could do with being updated as prices have changed for car parks etc.
Our family had a wonderful week away at The Coach house. A lovely quaint cottage with all the necessaries for a family-of- 5 stay - even a single bathroom didn't pose any problems.
Modern and contemporary, comfortable and clean with lots of cozy cottage charm. Quiet too considering there are a few other cottages dotted about. We were blessed with amazing weather but I think you'd be pretty covered if you stayed when the conditions were foul.
We wanted a beach holiday and not a city / touristy holiday and we certainly got it. Beaches are roughly 10 minutes in each direction and Kingsbridge 20 so quite centrally located even though you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere.
Narrow single lane down to the cottage that caught us off guard the first time but once you are driving like a local it's no big deal.
Davids communication was punctual, helpful and spot on.
A place I'd definitely recommend.
During our recent visit to the UK, we had the pleasure of staying in a charming countryside cottage that exceeded all our expectations. the cottage was a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the serene surroundings—the lush greenery, the gentle hum of nature
The cottage itself was beautifully appointed, with every detail thoughtfully considered. The living room, with its cozy fireplace and comfortable seating, quickly became our favorite spot to unwind after a day of exploring. The kitchen was fully equipped, allowing us to enjoy homemade meals, and the dining area offered a delightful view of the garden, where we spent several mornings sipping tea.
One of the highlights was the master bedroom, which featured a comfortable bed draped in soft linens.
What made our stay truly special, however, was the warmth and hospitality of our hosts. They provided us with a welcome bottle of wine. Their recommendations for local walks and nearby attractions helped us discover some hidden gems, from quaint tea rooms to stunning nature trails.
The location was ideal—peaceful and secluded.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking a serene and idyllic retreat.

Property lovely as described, but outside space and lacking information
You can't fault the the property itself, I would rate it 5 star, it was lovely, clean, comfortable and had everything you could possibly need inside and a lovely bottle of wine to welcome you. But 2 star for the description of outside which was economical about the facts of the location and other important information. It says its in a secluded valley, but not at the bottom of the valley and you absolutely need a car to do anything at all. It is not suitable for walkers. Although it says it is 1 mile from the beach it does not say that it is not really walkable. There are no footpaths from the properly, but a local farmer said we could walk through his field and another owners' field to get to the public footpath. It takes an hour or more to walk to the beach. You have to be very fit to climb to the top of the valley. The road only fits a car and is winding and the beach road is the same; its not really safe to walk. If you do take the car to the beach it costs £6 to park if you arrive in the morning and £3.50 after 3pm, though that’s not the owner's problem. There was no useful information, not even a hand drawn map of how to walk anywhere from the property. The property is fantastic for surfers and those who want a base in the area to drive out to other places. The description says small garden which is shown in the photograph, set within larger communal grounds, but there is no information about these communal grounds. Each property (6 others) has its own small garden; we didn't find any communal gardens that you could walk in (though the grounds were beautiful to look at and the wildlife magnificent) and the farm is not accessible; its private. They did not say there is no phone signal in the description, you find this out when you arrive from their information booklet. You can get a signal at the top of the valley (near the bins) so if your partner is the driver and taken ill in the night, you would have to walk 20 minutes uphill to get a phone signal. Other places we have stayed without signal have a landline for emergency calls only. They were economical with the description so not to put people off. The local pub you have to drive to unless you want that 1 hour uphill walk and if you drive then you can't have a drink. This property is not really suitable for people who don't want to have to drive everywhere. We were disappointed as we are walkers. We had a lovely holiday, but we had to drive everywhere.
plesant stay in a very nice house. Super fine beach nearby

Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
A very comfortable property in a secluded location
Tucked away in the country approx 2kms from Bantham and its stunning beach. Many other beaches within a short distance. A great base for outdoor activities.
And if the English weather gets in the way Totnes, Exeter and Plymouth are easily reachable.
decent pubs and plenty of freshly caught fish...and of course Devon cream teas
The barn is very well laid out, very clean. You definitely need a car to get about. The only problem i had was only 1 bed was made up, i went with a friend that i didn't want to share a bed with.
A lovely week helped by the weather. Well presented property, plenty of space.
Additional trays for the oven would be beneficial and a draining board.
The road to bantham very busy and sometimes slow to get back. This did not really bother us and cannot be helped.
5 out of 5 rating . Visited everywhere we wanted due to excellent location.
A fabulous cottage to escape to & unwind for a few days
Fantastic place to stay, a peaceful location & a perfect spot from which to explore the wonderful surroundings in this lovely part of Devon. Really helpful welcome emails and communications from owners. Cottage was clean, well equipped, very comfortable & cosy.
We really enjoyed our stay here & hope to return very soon.

Coach House Banthan
We didn’t actually stay in the end as it wasn’t up too our usual high standards
The property was cold dark and we decided not too even unpack the car
The road down to the property was incredibly narrow which needs to be highlighted in the information provided
Could not fault a thing, clean, all you need included, could do with an extra toilet when it’s for adults staying but we managed. Other than the really narrow roads (which can’t be helped) it was great
A really lovely and charming cottage style holiday home set in a quiet and secluded valley.
We found the Coachhouse to be the perfect base for us to explore the region from, and whilst it's set down in valley, it was bright and airy, well apportioned and big enough for our needs.
The owners were super helpful throughout, helping us with both pre-holiday questions and anything we needed to know during our stay.
You do need a car to travel to Bantham beach as the road is very narrow and busy, but we found we spent whole days down there, so needed it to transport all of the beach gear anyway!
We would thoroughly recommend the property to families and couples who want a place that is a little more peaceful, but able to get to the great places in the region you want to go to.
This property was really nice, very clean, beautiful house and area. But also allowed you to enjoy your own privacy. Good base to explore the South Devon coast. Would stay again.
We could not fault the Coach House. Great communication with the host, a smooth check-in, excellent location and very clean. The layout of the living room is very cosy and the outside space is a bonus in good weather. Bantham village and Bantham Beach are within a reasonable walking distance or a very short drive away.
Very much hoping to book again in future.
Lovely comfortable property and very well equipped. Everything we needed for our long weekend in Devon for a friends wedding.
Only tiny complaints were no power on shower and we struggled with lock on door.
We love this property. Always spotlessly clean and we appreciated very much the renovations which have been undertaken since our last stay (a new bathroom fit-out and new living room carpet). Nothing is 'tired' as is so often the case with holiday cottages. We will be back!
Beautifull, tranquil and very well presented cottage. We loved our stay in your barn, great location for all the beaches and walks. We are looking forward to coming back asap. Thank you very much
A great week here, minutes from spectacular Bantham beach. Set in a deep valley inhabited by cows, rabbits and deer the house was immaculate and perfect for us and our 2 daughters.
