"So yes this was 100% a white lotus type experience. That said. The service was impeccable. We went to kinigi for gorilla trekking and Sambora coordinated every detail beyond the permits. They did everything from finding the right outerwear to finding us a great driver. Meals were delicious. We sat every night at a long table with other guests which was fun - we were traveling as a couple so was nice to mix it up. But yes. White lotus. Just be prepared."

This hotel is the best place to stay in Kinigi/to gorilla trek! It’s the closest lodge to the Dian Fossey campus and women’s village, and the staff is exceptional. We were only here for one night, but Frances was a great host. The room as clean and comfortable, and he provided a good breakfast. We opted not to go to Volcanoes National Park, but Frances provided us with a great guide, who took us to Twin Lakes. On that trip we met MANY wonderful Rwandans out in the countryside, and saw beautiful scenery. The next morning our guide, Janvier, took us to the park where the baby gorilla naming ceremony is held, then out into the countryside again. FANTASTIC!
