About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Idyllic views over Loch Leven. Excellent location for travelling & keen golfers.

You are viewing one of Scotland’s hidden gems. Just 4 miles from the M90, we are ideally situated in a picturesque rural location with outstanding views across Loch Leven (famous for its brown trout) and Castle Island, where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned. Nestled between the Lomond and Bishop hills, with views across to the hills of Cleish and the Ochils, we are the perfect base to explore many of Scotlands cities and towns. The property is in a private village with little traffic, yet is close to several towns and cities. You are only 30 minutes from Edinburgh, Perth, Dundee, Stirling, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy, St Andrews and only 1 hour from Glasgow. With great park and ride facilities, nowhere is out of reach! The area is well served by local farms who produce fresh seasonal local produce & gifts etc and there is a local supermarket in Kinross which is only a 10 minute car journey. The property is perfectly situated for Golfers as it is within easy commuting distance to Gleneagles, St Andrews, Carnoustie and other courses throughout the Fife and Perthshire area. You can also visit the beautiful coastal villages in the East Neuk of Fife, all very accessible by car. The historical village of Falkland is about 15 minutes away which was included in the famous Outlander series.

The House:

The house and the original buildings within the village were part of a former hospital which was built in 1918 to accommodate soldiers injured in the First World War. The following year the hospital became a sanatorium due to the air quality being pure so which remains today!!!

The house is an end terraced split over 2 levels with 3 bedrooms (can sleep 7). Upstairs there is a spacious lounge with balcony, allowing you to fully enjoy the amazing views and stunning sunsets. There is sky TV, WiFi, a comfortable seating area and dining table situated within the living room. Upstairs there is a double front facing bedroom and a toilet room.

Downstairs there are 2 double bedrooms, (the second double bedroom consists of a bunk bed with double mattress on the bottom and single above), bathroom, well equipped kitchen, conservatory and terraced garden, the perfect place to enjoy a glass of something listening to the birds and passing wildlife.

It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy stunning views of Loch Leven and the surrounding countryside. It’s the the ideal holiday or short break destination for lovers of the great outdoors and who want to take part in the wide range of activities on offer in this part of Kinross-shire. The area is renowned for its cycle and walk friendly routes, golf courses, fishing, gliding and paragliding, horse riding, RSPB sites, Covenanter Trail and we are right in the heart of Outlander Territory!

This property is exquisite. Beautifully decorated, incredible views of Loch Leven and very well stocked kitchen. Little extras, to get us started (coffee, sugar, etc), extra linens, etc. We did not have a car and that was a challenge, however we did a long hike directed to by the neighbors, and later in our stay they offered to chauffer us to to Falkland and the castle. Lynda and Eileen certainly offered transportation above and beyond to make our stay that much more enjoyable. ( they even post a left item to us) Thank you. Kathryn was very responsive to a simple request. She came in a very timely manner. I would highly recommend this place to relax, hike, and visit roads less travelled. PS Visit the Toll Tavern for DELICIOUS food and say hi to Neil.

Poor communication with owner when I had a problem
No hot water from Saturday. Phoned and messaged owner who did not contact me back. Phoned Neighbour who I was told to contact if problem but she didn’t answer her phone. No hot water from Saturday and left without hot water on Sunday. Internet went down so not able to watch other channels upstairs.

Perfect Easter break
We had a lovely time staying at Glenlomond as a family of six adults, one toddler and two dogs. Great accommodation that was well equipped, stunning views to Loch Leven and close to travel links and points of interest like Craigtoun Country Park, St Andrew’s, Edinburgh, Loch Leven and the nature reserve. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending and hope to be back one day. Thankyou Kathryn for letting us stay in your home.

Lovely location
We had a lovely time exploring parts of Fife and local walks, including the Loch Leven heritage trail, Up to John Knox's pulpit and beyond to west Lomond. These lovely walks were accessible from the house without the car. The Larder was great for small gifts and local produce and delicious lunch and coffees, also within walking distance of the house. Wonderful views over Loch Leven from the sitting room and patio area. House was great and spacious for a family gathering of 7.

Fantastic property in an excellent location
This is a very clean and spacious property in a peaceful setting with all the amenities a family needs. The views from the house over Loch Leven are stunning (we were blessed with good weather) and the house is is very convenient for the Loch and all the activities it has to offer. We used the Loch Leven Larder and Loch Leven cycle hire, both of which are no more than a 20 minute walk from the house (5 minutes by car) and offered excellent service and choice of products. Highlight of the stay for us was the warm welcome and food at the nearby Balgedie Toll pub. That should be a 'must' for anyone staying in the property!

Fantastic stay with stunning views.
Absolutely lovely house with the most stunning views, (even the children appreciated the beautiful scenery!!) The house is lovely, very well equipped and spotlessly clean, in a lovely quiet village, Very Tranquil. The next door neighbours were so lovely and friendly and recommended plenty of places to see and visit with the children, which we did and they throughly enjoyed, especially the paddleboarding at lochore meadows. We all had a fantastic time away and will definitely be booking again, will also be highly recommending to all our friends and family. Thank you very much for such a lovely stay.

Beautiful House
Absolutely beautiful property. We stayed for the New year with friends that we haven't seen for a long time. The house is so well equipped with everything you could possibly need. It's very spacious and just lovely, but what made it extra special was the gorgeous Christmas tree set up in the lounge which is stunning and comfortable. The house was warm and relaxing and we loved the original floors and the shower room was the best. Can't wait to return, maybe in the summer so we can make use of the patio area at the back. Loved it
