"I have stayed at this hotel before and was delighted to find that it's standards hadn't fallen at all. My room was clean and well laid out and had a lovely view of the river & the various boats going up & down. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food, especially the breakfast, is really good. York also has an amazing assortment of shops and various attractions to visit including the Minster, Yorvik, Barley Hall, The Railway Museum, the Castle Museum. I can also recommend the 4pm Adult slot at The Dig."

The only negative comment was that we were expecting the room to be made up on a daily basis and it was only later, when we read the leaflet given to us on check-in did we discover that this only occurs on a weekly basis. It would have been helpful if this was highlighted when we checked in."

"Room comfortable with nice toiletries, staff very polite and helpful.The hotel is right in the heart of York with everything a short distance away. If you’re using the valet parking service it’s £35 per night and not £30 as stated on Expedias website. All in all a very pleasant 2 night stay. "

"I've stayed at The Crown a few times...and many will say its outdated...needs a lick of paint...not me...its quite a charming hotel with character and squeaky floorboards...dont ever change...plus the location is fantastic..."
