We only stayed 3 days but will give the review based on the small amount of time we were there. The location for us, a family of 4, wasn’t the best because it was a 20 minute drive to the nearest shop/town (Ulverston) and we had two teenaged boys in tow!! For others the rural location will have been perfect. It is situate at the end of a row of houses with very private, ample parking and a private fenced garden (which isn’t actually attached to the property so you can’t just let the dog out of the door) but with a cows field next door which was lovely! The cottage inside was very outdated in terms of soft furnishings and linen but clean enough, although it did smell of dogs (we left our dog with family on this occasion) but is a dog-friendly property. Bear in mind if you do take your dog, it cannot be left alone or allowed on the beds or sofa! The kids called it an “upside down house” which suited the rural location as you had nice views from the lounge area upstairs. The cottage is in a tiny village of Grizebeck and without shops but there is a pub serving nice food. We tried a Chinese takeaway (Lotus) from Ulverston which was average but had the best reviews. We also ate in the pub/restaurant “The Farmers” the next night in Ulverston which was very nice. We took a steam boat trip from Lakeside to Bowness which was lovely. The weather was rubbish but managed to enjoy some activities - we all enjoyed Brockhole. Millom is not worth a visit but was our nearest beach so gave it a try! Grange-over-sands was nice and about a 30 min drive away.
