Staff was kind and friendly, facilities were a little dated and the lighting inside the room needs updating, pure white light is not the most pleasant, however the traditional Japanese bedroom experience was very cool! "The staff were very accommodating and friendly. They offered us another room for our second night after we realized we booked a room without a private toilet. The meals were some of the best we had in Japan with wonderfully varied menu using high quality ingredients. It is tucked away from Kiso Fukushima town so you need to take a taxi (approx Y4,000) or other transportation. It was nice to experience a quieter ryokan in the country."

"Perfect clean accomodation on the main street of Narai - closer towards the Shizume-jinja shrine. Thoroughly recommend for others to book and stay in. A huge private home that can easily fit two families with three large bedrooms that have multiple beds in each. Modern facilities such as kitchen, laundry, and bathroom. Takashi the owner was very helpful and pre booked dinner for us at one of the local restaurants. As everything closes early eg 4pm, it was comforting to know we had a dinner place to eat at. Thankyou Takashi! There is a new modern cafe right next door that was also open at night when we were there. The local cars that are allowed to drive on the Main Street were surprisingly very loud and noisy at night and early in the morning. With the paper thin windows everything can be heard. But this was ok for our family. The little shops were great to peruse through and visiting all the shrines behind the accomodation was relaxing."

"We had an extraordinary stay at this beautiful inn. The staff was so incredibly welcoming and accommodating. The room was quiet, well appointed, filled with delightful toiletries, and so comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast far exceeded our expectations, with fresh colorful food from the owner's farm and a warm, delightful staff. It is perfectly located at the base of the main street, walkable to everything you would want to see in Narai. My only regret is that we only had one night! I have since recommended La Terra Narai to several friends and can't wait to return. "
