Lovely place, beautiful garden, cozy room and very kind and professional staff.
I can recommend to add the positivity of using the hot bathtub on their rooftop as well.
We loved this stay. The property was very nice and they had a beautiful garden. I loved the amenities that they provided. I would go back for their private bath and breakfast!
Beautiful spotless Japanese room overlooking the garden. Excellent toiletries. Rooftop bath. Exceptional staff. Five minute walk to Philosophers Path. Highly recommended.
Excellent food and service in this traditional Japanese Ryokan Hotel. Also perfect location on a quiet street and very close to Kyoto’s most important Shrines and Temples. Highly recommended, would stay again!!!
Had a wonderful time at Kanade. Friendly staff, large clean room, and serene garden made for a relaxing stay. We also booked the private rooftop bath and traditional Japanese dinner once we arrived; both were excellent.
Fantastic hotel located in a quiet neighborhood. Close to bus stops that make traveling to central Kyoto easy. Staff was accommodating and helpful. Rooms were tidy and comfortable.
This ryokan was beautiful and very clean, and the staff were always friendly and accommodating. You can also reserve the private onsen for about 1000 yen for an hour. The bus stop was a short walk away so it wasn't too bad travelling to different parts of the city. Loved this place!
A beautiful traditional inn/hotel, our room looked over the garden- very serene and lovely to take an evening walk in (all lit up) and likewise a morning walk (dressed in the provided yukatas). A little further out from some of the main Kyoto tourist spots but that's fitting for the location and Kyoto is very well connected with buses and the subway. Only wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you

Very traditional and wonderful stay in Kyoto. Beautiful garden with close walk to the bus station. Staff was kind and we enjoyed the breakfast. If you want a traditional Japanese breakfast, it’s a wonderful place to try it that only improved each day we stayed. Just know you will get to try new and authentic food so be open to trying new things.
So amazing. Beautiful sight and spot[garden]. And most of all, super-kind staffs. Never regret and never forgettable memories.
+ fresco 24hr mart nearby. Much better than conveni and more intresting experience.
The ryokan is located a little outside (about 30 minutes walk from Gion), but the bus connection is good and some temples are within easy walking distance.
The garden is beautiful and our room was large and clean. The service was friendly and courteous. Can only recommend it.
An unforgettable stay in Kyoto! Every detail was carefully considered by this property and its staff/owners.
High quality amenities and bedding, spacious rooms with gorgeous views. Very quiet.
The food was the best we had in Japan. Both breakfast and dinner. Beautifully presented. More art than food.
The staff was very helpful, kind and friendly, like a family.
Thank you Ryokan Kanade and everyone who welcomed us so warmly. You were our best memory of Japan.
We wanted the ryokan experience and perhaps this is why the room was fairly basic. I would say it is more of a 3.5 star hotel. We overlooked the garden which was ok… we weee expecting more The neighborhood was quiet and nice, about a 15 min walk to the a beautiful temple, the Philosphers Path and the zoo. We don’t think we will stay here again
The location of the hotel was off the beaten path. This resulted in the area being quite and relaxing. My room was clean and spacious with a clear view of a rather small, yet aesthetic, Japanese zen garden. What surprised me most was how comfortable the futons are. Only major issue is the lack of access to mainstream transportation. With only a few bus stops in the area longer trips across Kyoto may require one or two extra buses transfers.
The Ryokan Kanade is very nice, the room tiny but beautiful - no place for luggage - the view is beautiful into the garden. As we had to leave early because of a tour on one day, they were not able to give us a little lunchbox or a coffee or anything although we paid for it.
We booked the dinner as well - it is very pricey but absolutely delicious and the chef is incredible - so kind and perfection in every detail - but be aware - for me it was really perfect - for my 20 year old son tough it was more like an appetiser - he was still very hungry afterwards. But he loved the food and the futon bed and everything!
