You can tell that the hotel hasn't had a good cleaning in a while and my fridge and coffee supplies were dirty

The bed was comfy, room was clean except there was this smell that i couldn't identify coming from the bathroom. Did not like the laundry area. Only 2 washing machines for 10 levels of guests. Every laundry time was like a war zone with everyone competing to use them.

It was a very convenient hotel to visit many popular areas of Kyoto. I wish there was a dedicated eat-in area since there are so many conbinis nearby for an easy meal. It was very clean but please not that laundry service is only for guests staying at least 4 days.

A good choice hotel overall

Good location on connecting bus routes around the area: however, poor breakfast for vegetarians/pescatarians. Laundry facilities poor/limited. Two washer/driers for whole hotel and people queuing to use them! Superior double room a decent size. Receptionists very helpful.

The hotel is just a few steps from the most popular shopping center in Kyoto. There are plenty of restaurant options nearby, and transportation is right at the door. Our room was spacious by Japanese standards, with two very comfortable beds. The temples aren’t very close but are walkable (about an hour). A taxi from the train station to the hotel and from the hotel to the temples costs about $10–$12.

This is a very clean and modern hotel. It’s conveniently located close to many shops, markets and restaurants, as well as popular tourist attractions in Kyoto. The price I got was incredible!! Highly recommended!

This was a modern and clean hotel in a great location. There was a streetcar stop just across the street. Nishiki Market was nearby. I used the washing machine, which was very easy. No need to get detergent even. I would definitely stay here when I come back to Kyoto.

A pleasant enough stay. I had the misfortune of getting the "solitary confinement" room which had very little natural light and the frosted window looked out onto a grey concrete wall about 2m away, with only a slither of daylight visible. The carpet in the common corridor was obviously stained and could do with a clean. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

A centrally located average hotel

The hotel is located on the main business street of Kyoto. Kyoto is full of visitors and tourists at this time of the year and it is hot and humid. My room was a single room, small but practical. The bed was fine. There was no view out of the window. The lobby was packed with suitcases of people checking in or out and it was crowded. The two receptionists tried their best to help. Breakfast was very minimal and not satisfactory at all,

A hotel should serve one major purpose, to provide guests with a quiet place to rest. Travelodge Kyoto failed to achieve this. This was our experience: The beds were rock hard, which impacted sleep and ledt you to wake feeling unrested. Althougg the staff were polite, when requesting an additional blanket the staff to sleep on (to soften the bed) were not willing/able accomodate this request. We were on the 10th floor, the noise breaking into the room from the street below was considerable. Even with the windows closed. Pity those who staying on the lower levels. Soundproofing appeared very poor. Additionally, there were 2x washer dryers for the entire hotel. We had to set an alarm for during the night to wake us in the hope we could get to the machine early as they were constantly in use. For a hotel with 10 floors and 20 rooms per floor, the number of washing machines for guests was insufficient. Would recommend anyone to look elsewhere for something that will be more comfortable.
