Perfect Place for a Getaway

My wife and I decided to visit the San Diego area for an early anniversary celebration and our stay at the Cottage in the Garden couldn’t have been better. Everything was as advertised and our hosts were not only friendly, but very gracious and accommodating. Should we visit the area again, we will definitely look to book another stay.

Perfect for our needs

This was a great property just perfect for our needs. Beautifully appointed and the ability to open the doors up to the back garden was a huge bonus!Easy communication with hosts and we would definitely stay here again.

Great host!

The garden cottage was inviting, clean, and comfortable. I love the modern look, the beautiful garden in the back, and the very close accessible highway. Barb is by far the best host that I have ever had with VRBO. Thanks for having us, we will surely stay at the garden cottage again the next time we are in town!

Super convenient stay in a lovely property

Very convenient located property. The casita is perfect for two people and is tastefully decorated. We enjoyed morning coffee on the patio while watching the hummingbirds in the yard.

The Perfect Spot

This was the perfect place to stay while visiting La Mesa. The cottage is identical to the listing - the garden was so beautiful and a great place to relax. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots and pans, any cooking appliance you would need , and a full spice rack - made cooking a total breeze. All listed amenities were present and made it feel like home.Host communication was excellent, all necessary information was provided well in advance and made it easy to check in and out. A word of caution, the street this home is located off of is quite busy. I would recommend backing into the driveway to make it easier to leave the property. Would definitely stay again!

Will stay here again

Only reason location isn’t 5 star is because it was tricky to back out onto the main road. There’s nothing that can be done about it and everything else was perfect! I’ll be staying here again when I visit my kids.

Fantastic Stay

The Cottage in the Garden was a great choice for our vacation in San Diego. It is a unique, modern, cool, and homey place that we called home. It has everything that one could ask for. The hosts have considered every detail...right down to warm chocolate chip cookies and a bottle of wine to greet you upon arrival. I am VERY picky in selecting where my family stays. This is a FANTASTIC place to stay. Consider this place for your next stay!

The Perfect Getaway

I recently stayed at this cottage while visiting my daughter who attends college in San Diego. I came from Pennsylvania for the week and was blown away by this beautiful studio. From the minute, I pulled into the driveway I loved every second that I was here. The cottage looks exactly like the photos and had everything you could ever want and more from perfect bedding to a heated toilet seat to several different coffee makers, and the most adorable backyard with beautiful flowers and trees. I unfortunately had four straight days of rain while visiting but was lucky enough to be here in this adorable cottage where I could sleep in and relax and watch TV shows while looking out at the beautiful backyard. It is located on a busy street, but it was very easy to get in and out of the driveway and each morning I took a long walk through the neighborhood and saw the most beautiful homes with fruit trees and the stunning mountains in the distance. I can’t wait to come back to San Diego and I will not hesitate to rent this cottage again.

Sweet, private guesthouse

This is a sweet property for one or two people. It's very well laid out, very well thought out. The hosts were very helpful, but not not in anyway intrusive. We arrived very late and our hosts had a bottle of wine chilling. There was some wonderful coffee beans provided for our first morning joe. The entrance way to our private guest house was well lit, so coming and going after dark was easy. A very enjoyable, comfortable stay. Thank you! – Anne

Perfect San Diego Getaway

My teenage son and I loved Barb’s place. It was perfect! The amount of space was just right. The location was fantastic! Easy access to the freeway and we seemed to be 20-25 minutes, at most, from most major SD attractions. Barb supplied body wash, shampoo/conditioner, hair dryer, bath towels, laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, toilet paper, trash bags, and even had water and snacks. This was so thoughtful and convenient since most guests are flying in and not able to bring all of those items. The bedding was clean and comfortable. We had plenty of quiet and privacy. I sleep with a white noise machine and highway noise wasn’t an issue at all. As others have mentioned, the street is somewhat busy but we didn’t have any problems backing out. Just be careful. There is a bathtub but the stopper wasn’t holding the water. It wasn’t a big deal to me but it might be if you have small children. Also, there ARE curtains on the door and back door. This place was great and Barb was fast to reply to texts. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it for couples or small families.

Great stay in a quiet setting

Barb and Gary have done a wonderful job at their rental. Clean, quiet, great location, and very close to some of San Diego’s finest destinations. Snacks are left for the guests and their backyard is a peaceful retreat.

Pleasant cottage, good experience

The property was clean, pleasing, roomy enough for the two of us. It had everything we needed. The bed and couch were very comfortable. The property owners were attentive to our needs and proactive in making us aware of any potential issues. They even had free oranges growing in the back yard! Overall we had a very pleasant stay. We reserved the place as it was within walking distance of our son in Las Mesa. If you are walkers like us, you should know though that Bancroft Street does not have sidewalks for a short stretch and it can be a busy street at times. Other than that, the property was top notch and we have no complaints.
