"Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic. Staff were very friendly and professional. Property is older and has a bit of an institutional aesthetic but it is very well maintained. Amenities (restaurants, groceries, gas etc.) aren’t super close so having a car is helpful. We really enjoyed our stay here. Fit our needs perfectly."

"This place was so wonderful that we wished we could have stayed longer, for the peacefulness and calm and to use the hot tubs. Our very comfortable room had direct access to a nice path to a beach on Lake Lagarfljót and waterfall, plenty of lupines nearby also, still early for them. We sat in the room chairs after delicious dinner until late enjoying the view which never stopped because of the long daylight hours. Breakfast was full of options with very delicious food, including fresh baked croissants. Highly recommended if you're in the eastern region of Iceland."

"We had booked Stóra Sandfell Rooms and Cottages for two nights but ended up staying only one. The setting is very peaceful and quiet, surrounded by woods, and it was different from the other places we stayed along the Ring Road. The kitchen was nice to have, and I can see how the patio and grill would be lovely in better weather, though the rain kept us from really enjoying those. The cabin has a rustic cottage feel, which some travelers may really enjoy. My daughter had been excited to sleep in the loft, but she found several spiders and decided to sleep on the hard couch instead. The bedroom was extremely tiny, to the point that the door could not fully open, and the bed was probably the most uncomfortable one we slept in during our trip. We did not use the shower because we went to Vök Baths nearby. The location felt a little far out of town for what we needed, so we decided to skip our second night and move on to a different area. Overall, this could be a good stay for someone looking for a quiet, rustic cottage experience in a wooded setting, but the sleeping situation was not quite comfortable enough for us."
