We’ve put the finishing touches on a full renovation of this beautiful turn of the century home. ADK Mountain House is an open concept floor plan with 10' ceilings, some rustic and some industrial decor for the perfect design and feel.

Enjoy the classic charm of this beautiful 1896 home with all the modern comforts you desire, newly renovated from top to bottom. You'll love the brand new appliances, double of everything in the gourmet kitchen to accommodate large groups! Well appointed furnishings, brand new bathrooms and hardwood floors throughout the house. The enclosed porch is the perfect spot to start your day with that first cup of coffee. Send the kids out back to play in Teddy Bear Park, just steps away. You won't ever want to leave ADK Mountain House!

EIGHT bedrooms and FIVE bathrooms allow you and your guests to spread out as needed. The open concept 1st floor is the perfect place when you are ready to gather! (Be sure to check out the floor plans at the end of the photo deck)

We spent 4 nights in this fantastic home. It had everything we needed for our group of 18. The double refrigerator, stove and washer/dryers were an extra luxury. The location can’t be beat. You can see Main Street from the house.

It was great - accommodation were ok- I suggested a new king mattress, we added a few small kitchen implements- overall our kids and grands skied almost everyday- as well as shopped through town . Super location- central to everything ! All of us had a blast! I had a TIA, so spent a couple of nights in the hospital and found for a rural area it was fabulous! Would recommend this home to any family, it was great!

This home was beyond our expectations. The hosts were responsive and communicated well. They responded quickly with all of our questions and even offered suggestions of things to do and places to eat for our group. If we had questions that popped up once we got to the house, they responded quickly. The photos online do not do this home justice, there is so much room. With 7 families in the house, we were worried we could be cramped, there was plenty of room to stretch out, play, gather and even get away from each other from time to time. The area the home is located in is perfect. You are just a few minute walk into town for shopping, dining and activities. We loved this home and will ear mark it for future visits to Lake Placid. Thank you to Tom and Emily for a fantastic weekend!

Tom told me to prepare to be wowed, but it’s so much more than wow!! This house is truly amazing!! It was absolutely perfect for our family of 18. Nine adults and nine grandkids ages 1-8. Two of every appliance made cooking and cleaning up a breeze. Ample everything from dishes and silverware to garbage bags, cleaning supplies and off street parking. Beds galore and very comfortable!! Lots and lots of room for everyone!! Perfect central location to everything in town with a playground right next door. Perfect spot to build a snowman with the kids!! This will be our go to property for future Lake Placid trips!!

Great location to stay with a large group. The proximity to town is unbeatable; a quick and easy walk to the heart of Main Street. Plenty of rooms and beds with space for a group to spread out. The large kitchen with its double appliances was an added bonus with ample room for food storage and meal preps. Hosts were excellent. Quick communications and accommodating to requests with added insights on what to do and where to visit.

The location was terrific, one block from Main Street and centrally located to everything we wanted to do. With a playground literally outside the back door, it couldn’t have been better situated for our family. The spaciousness of the house was incredible and responsiveness of the hosts absolutely top-notch!

We were 11 people for a family Christmas gathering and everyone loved the house! The kitchen worked great for big meals and the layout was ideal for our big group. We walked to great restaurants, shops, ice skating, and Olympic sites. Tom was great to work with. Can’t wait to come back!!

Tom and Emily were great to work with. The house was as advertised for a large group of us in town for the Ironman race. We had plenty of space to be together but separate if needed and there were 17 of us! Every thing we needed was onsite and in great condition. We had a few needs that Emily took care of immediatly. The location to all things Lake Placid was perfect; we loved the games, the large Connect 4 turned into a whole house competition one night! Great house and wonderful experience, I would definitely recommend for a group! Thank you!

This house was perfect for our large group of friends. Everyone was comfortable in their own spaces yet we still had space to be together in the well-equipped kitchen. We cooked all of our dinners here and had plenty of space in the 2 refrigerator(our kids now want 2 at our own home). The location couldn’t be better. We could easily walk into town and Whiteface was less than a 30 minute drive.

Loved this house! Big, accommodating and close to town! Can walk everywhere is is awesome. The playground out back was a huge plus too for the kids! 2 ovens and fridge also a huge plus! Was able to make 5 pizzas easily! Host was super communicative and available if needed. Great property overall!

We enjoyed our trip to this vacation home so much! It had everhthing our family of 17 (ages 3-94) needed! Two dishwashers, two ovens, two refrigerators, two washers, two dryers! Everyone had plenty of room to spread out; the kids enjoyed the enclosed porch with the games and puzzles provided. I especially appreciated the extra hand bars in the shower on the first floor for my 94 year old Dad. The location is perfect for a visit to Lake Placid. Family walked the short distance to Main Street multiple times a day, enjoying the beach, kayaking, restaurants and, of course, ice cream! The weather was perfect! For the first time in traveling together for thirty years, the family hopes to come back to stay here next year! That really says something about the perfectness of this property! After organizing a skip trip for 15 years at 14 different properties, I can easily say that this is the only place that far exceeded our expectations on the VRBO listing. The house was a block off the main street in Lake Placid, which made the entire experience so much more convenient. The house was set up absolutely perfectly - lots of bedrooms and beds, large communal spaces, and a kitchen perfectly equipped for a large group with 2 of every appliance. The host was super friendly, helpful, and responsive. Really can't say enough about how great our experience was here. Looking forward to coming back.

Tom Rath has created a truly outstanding, one of a kind vacation home in Lake Placid, NY. This once was a B&B that has now been renovated into an 8-bedroom vacation home, with all the bells and whistles. This home is quite capable of handling 26+ guests. Full redundancy has been built into the kitchen, laundry and outside BBQ area. Dual appliances throughout…even two BBQ grills. The renovation preserved and enhanced the Adirondack charm and blended in modern amenities. The use of period artifacts – like the sliding barn doors on two of the five bathrooms….and the antique ice house door on the laundry room add to the historic charm. The canoe frame on the kitchen ceiling and antique bath tub in the master bath (with modern shower) are other great examples. Everything is new…. from appliances, pots and pans, dishes, linens, cabinets, bedding etc. and a lot of care went into restoring the wood floors. The place is sparkling. The giant dining room table was more than enough for our party of 12. You just never feel cramped in this home. Location is key as well…you are only a block and a half from the down town area and experiencing all that the town of Lake Placid and Mirror Lake have to offer. The eight bedrooms are all well appointed and unique. Twin beds, queens, bunkbeds all tastefully decorated and fun to be in. At the end of the day….it is just a wonderful home to stay in. Tom is an excellent host and available to provide local information and recommendations. There is so much to do in the Lake Placid area! He is an attentive host but not intrusive in any way. If you need him…he is available. This unique home is a real winner, summer or winter. I look forward to returning in the future and have already recommended it to a number of people…and gladly do so now. We had 12 active people in our group – enough to overwhelm some vacation homes- but never an issue here! By every measurement this is an outstanding vacation home. You are in store for a unique, wonderful Adirondack vacation….! Five stars in my book.

Great home for our party of 8, could have hosted plenty more. Easy walk into town and enjoyed all lake placid has to offer. We skied, skated, snowshoed, and snowmobiled. Great host with good recommendations for dinners and activities.

The property manage was terrific. He responded immediately to all our needs. The house is magnificent with plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, and two of everything - frig, dishwasher, coffee pots, toasters, washers & dryers. It is just as pictured on the website. Easily walking distance to the Main Street. Definitely recommend the rental. We’ll be back.

The location could not be beat for this property. It is a short walk from Lake Mirror main street. It is a really huge house that can accommodate a fairly large group easily. We stayed with a group of friends and there was no lack of space to spread around and still keep kids out of our hair. There are enough games for kids to keep them occupied even when they are not able to go out due to bad weather. Host is easy to reach out to and responds promptly. The only thing our group wished was for more comfortable furniture. It was not broken or very old but not very comfortable to spend any amount of extended time on it. Overall we loved our stay

We loved the location of this property and the fact that it could hold our whole family for a get together. Our only major complaint was that the living room furniture wasn’t very comfortable for sitting around and hanging out in.

We had a college reunion party of 14 adults. We used all the bedrooms, but please note that one bedroom (on the 3rd floor) does not have a door as it is more of a wide open area with beds in it. This house is a great location to the village of Lake Placid. Easy to walk to the village and also around Mirror Lake. The kitchen is fully stocked for your convenience-dishes, glasses, utensils, fridge space, pots & pans. We did have an issue with 1 AC unit-the owner was quick to respond but was not able to get it working. We were out during the day, so it did not affect us much. Everyone was comfortable in the beds, all linens, towels, & pillows are provided. Lots of space for lots of people! We rode the gondola to the top of White Face mountain one day and rented a pontoon boat for an afternoon ride around Lake Placid the other day. Beautiful area, so much to do & enjoy.
