Of all the hotels the i have stayed at all over the world this has been my best experience. If you are planning any excursions please use the travel guide Belay. He is very knowledge about the history past and presnt of this area with reasonable rates.

Fantastic rooms with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. Very comfortable and even top class linens. Lovely garden to sit in, great food and nothing is too much for the friendly owner and staff. They also provided me with an excellent guide by the name of Endaye.

The medieval rock hewn churches of Lalibela are a world wonder by any definition. Carved out of the surrounding bedrock in the 12th & 13th centuries, the churches were intended to be a "New Jerusalem", an African Jerusalem. The greatest of these churches is the iconic Bete Giyorgis. Today the 11 churches are part open air museum and part active pilgrimage destination for Ethiopians.
