What's a road-trip without unplanned stops? One such for us was in the town of Lamego. We spent some moments admiring its cathedral. Right in front of the church was a courtyard surrounded by carved pillars with statues. And ahead of that, was this breathtaking view of the town. This recommendation came from our fantastic hosts at Quinta de Tourais in Douro Valley.

We had a comfortable room with a patio overlooking the Douro River. Staff very friendly. The only negative from our point of view was the window from the shower into the room.
