Reel Paradise at Shore Slough

  • Lookin for a reel good time?? Reel Paradise is scenic oasis in the town of Lansing, Iowa and it is just like it sounds— it is Reel Paradise. This river-side getaway is the perfect space for your next family vacation, Mississippi River fishing trip, or boating adventure. This property features 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, and a screened in porch, perfect to watch the sunrise and sunset. This house comes fully equipped with kitchen plates, pots/pans, utensils, laundry, and linens-everything you need to feel at home! Enjoy using the gas grill and fire pit on the front patio of the home while overlooking the river. A fishing dock/boat slip is also an amenity that will be provided for your stay at no cost at all. There is a pet fee of $40 (please no pets on furniture). If available, there is a $40 early check-in fee, if you want to come before the 4 pm standard check in (2 or 3 hours).
    Disclaimer: This property has a railroad track nearby that will need to be crossed when going to/from the dock.

This is a beautiful, well-kept home right on the river. Having a screen porch to relax in and enjoy cooler evenings was wonderful. Loved having a dock to pull the boat up to.

This property was great for our needs. The screened in porch was a perfect place to enjoy the beautiful weater and breeze without being in the direct sun. The trains were a joy to watch pass by and were not loud or obnoxious at all. The owners were friendly and allowed us to use their bigger fishing pole and some live bait. We had all we needed in terms of dishes, cooking utensils and pans. It was very sweet of them to leave a bottle of wine for us to enjoy as well. We would definitely recommend this place.

We had a wonderful stay at Reel Paradise! We surprised our mom for her birthday with a stay at this beautiful home. We woke up to beautiful sunrises and a great view of the Mississippi River. Would definitely recommend a getaway at this property.

Beautiful views

Lovely place to stay right on the river with wonderful amenities. Kitchen was well stocked, and all the communication with the owners was great. We could hear the trains but weren’t overly disturbed by them. We’ll definitely consider booking again for a future trip to Lansing!

Relaxing

Just wanted a place to unwind for a few days. This place really offered that with a great view. The town its self was really nice and had some great places to eat. You don’t have to have a boat to enjoy this place! We will back for sure and look forward to it.

Get away vaca!

Loved it so much! The screened-in porch was my spot all week! We sat out there during the storm, the breeze was great and the rain on the water was beautiful. The views were amazing! We have put this place on our return list, definitely!

Weekend away to ice fish and the guys could do so right off the dock and in that area. House was very nice, clean and we would definitely like to go back. Good communication with host. House had all the necessities. Definitely will recommend to family and friends.

Perfect Vacation Spot

There was a large group of us with 2 young kids, and we had a great time! Even though the river was high resulting in us leaving our boat at home, we still made the best of it. We brought a blow up pool and used it for the time being. The screened in porch was our absolute favorite as anywhere along the river is going to be buggy especially at nighttime. So we were able to enjoy the outdoors more and play a few card games around the patio table. Plus, the view is so beautiful and perfect spot to drink your morning coffee. Would most definitely stay again!!

Positives-Host is very responsive. Setting is breathtaking for watching eagles and watercraft. House, furniture and appliances are new and high quality. Negatives-train tracks are very near and 100-car trains come through 5-6 times a day and night, disrupting sleep. Main queen bed squeaks and seems like box spring/headboard and frame need replacing. Furnace is loud and pulls air from bedroom making the north bedroom next to bathroom unusable.

Great house for a family trip

We had a wonderful time during our stay at Reel Paradise. The views were spectacular, fishing was good, and the home was well kept and comfortable. The hosts are wonderfully friendly as well, and there were lots of personal touches that made it feel nicer than a hotel or bare bones rental. Having a dock available was a huge benefit for our fishing trip. We had plenty of room for 7 people (three kids), and there was a lot of space to hang out both inside and outside. Instructions were clear for check in, check out, property usage, etc. I gave 4 stars for listing accuracy, because the driveway was very steep and awkward to get into and the ramp down to the dock was very steep also. We were able to adjust, but it was kind of a surprise when we got there. These things are understandable based on the lay of the land, we just weren't super prepared for it because we weren't all that familiar with the area.
