Surrounded by lush green landscapes, in the quaint mountain village of Larrau, right on the village campground, this charming 3-bedroom mobile home can accommodate up to 6 people—or even a seventh on the sleeper sofa. A family-friendly setting with a well-equipped outdoor playground. The first bedroom has a double bed, and the other two are furnished with two single beds each (ideal for older children ages 3–4 and up). The unit is equipped with a large refrigerator with a small freezer (2 shelves), indoor and outdoor dining tables (including a patio), cooking essentials (frying pans, lids, pots, wooden spoons, ladles...), and dining essentials (plates, glasses, cutlery, etc.), a toaster, two coffee makers (a standard model and a Senseo pod machine), a kettle, an electric hotplate, a small griddle, an extension cord (for a raclette machine, for example), a television, and Wi-Fi is available at the campground’s front desk when it is open. This unit is well-heated in winter using electric heaters, with one in each bedroom. Pets are welcome. The mobile home can be rented for a minimum of 2 nights. Parking is free and right in front of the mobile home. Sheets and towels are provided (€10 included in the rental price).
Daily Life: There is no grocery store in the village yet, but one is on the way. However, there is a small grocery store on the campground (at the reception desk) that can help you out. A market selling local products is held in Iraty.
You’ll find a small Casino supermarket in Tardets (15 km)
For bread, a bread stand is open in the village center on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. It’s located across from the village school on the way to the fronton.
Leisure/Activities: If you’d like to explore the village and its surroundings, you can go hiking (Pic d’Orhy, the Sakhertia ridges, the Pista waterfall, the Saint-Joseph chapel, the Holzarte footbridge 10 km away, and many others) or even go fishing. You’ll have the chance to visit several small farms selling their own cheese. You might even witness the departure or return of herds of cows and sheep on their seasonal migration as they pass through the village.
Canyoning and kayaking are also available in the surrounding area. Visit the La Verna Caves in Sainte-Engrâce (an introduction to caving, including a tour of the world’s largest illuminated underground chamber). In winter, the Pierre Saint Martin ski resort is just a short drive away (32 km via Sainte-Engrâce or 53 km via Arette), as well as Iraty, which offers cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and a toboggan run to delight both children and adults alike.
Bars/Restaurants: The campground bar is open, but there is no restaurant. You can visit the Etchemaite Hotel in Larrau or the restaurant in Iraty. You can head up to Sainte-Engrâce to the Auberge Berriex or down to Licq-Atherey (10–12 km), where you’ll find the Irrintzina or Alfitcha. Continuing on, you’ll find the Pont d’Abense restaurant in Abense de Haut (16 km). Finally, there are several bars and restaurants in Tardets (17 km).
