"We had a wonderful three nights in the mountain facing rooms. Added bonus of being able to watch the sun rise from the room. Friendly staff provided an excellent meal on the first evening. Breakfast choices were many and varied; we certainly set off each day well filled. The village itself was great for wandering around and the castle of course was the highlight. Slightly scared at first at the narrow entrance into the village in our hire car, but it's actually OK. Plenty of room. Parking...

"Practical hotel in the centre of Portalegre. Overall the hotel feels a bit dated but generally clean. Breakfast was ok but not a single lactose or gluten free option (at least we couldn’t find it and there was no staff on sight)"

"Really unique accommodation in an old castle village! Driving in is something else, with all those narrow cobblestone laneways. Staff were super friendly. Our room was quite small, but had everything we needed. "
