About this property
Leakey River Rental, relax in the peaceful hill country or cool off in the river
Thank you for visiting us. Instant booking is available for FAMILY GROUPS ONLY , other non family groups please submit a booking request. Our house has been in business since the spring of 2010 with five star ratings! We are a very secluded house tucked away in the hill country ON the West fork of the Frio River. During the recent 2022 summer drought, our river never went dry at property or surrounding area. Thankful for the fresh springs feeding our river, which keeps the river clean & flowing down to our property! We are North of Leakey in a private area with no neighbors, on approximately 5.5 acres. The Frio River gets its name for its cool and consistent flow and is a popular summertime destination for those wishing to enjoy the beauty of the Frio Canyon and Texas Hill Country or a peaceful, fall getaway with a campfire! You will feel like one with nature, yet you are only a short drive away from the growing town of Leakey, Garner State Park, Concan and Lost Maples. It's a great spot for a retreat or just a weekend. Come relax with your family and friends! Our house is about 200 yards from the river but you can drive down to our PRIVATE RIVER ENTRANCE and park there, to unload your things.

We absolutely loved the private location of the property and the convenience of the river access. Mark was a very attentive host and he made sure we had everything needed for our stay. Our family had a lots of room to spread out and visit and the house was well stocked.
Overall great experience, great location. Property manager is very friendly and responsive. Appreciated tips on best spots for swimming. House was comfortable and big enough for 6 of us and our two dogs.
We had a wonderful time on the property. Very spacious with lots of outdoor spaces for people to get together and just hang out. we visited Garner State Park a couple of times and climbed Old Baldy. Of course we couldn't pass up the daily swimming hole nearby that was so very relaxing and quiet away from all the crowds. We plan to come back and stay again.
The house was great. It was clean and cozy even though its huge! The views were nice and the river access was icing on the cake. Mark was very informative and friendly. The whole family had a wonderful time celebrating our sons 21st birthday. It was something special. Loved it! Cant wait to go again! Dont hesitate... BOOK IT!
We had a very nice time at this rental in Leakey! We were only here for a short stay (2 nights), but it was just what we all needed to recharge our batteries. First, I must say that communication with the property manager, Mark, was great. He was very accommodating and willing to go the extra mile to make sure we had everything needed for our weekend retreat. The fire pit area was great and we spent a good majority of our time out there sitting by the fire and using the charcoal BBQ grill. The rental is not very far away from the town of Leakey, but just far enough where ultimate privacy is attained. I would not hesitate to stay in this rental again if my family and I find our way up to Concan/Leakey for another trip. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
I was struggling to find a place in a short time. My middle son was killed in a tragic accident in August his birthday is in June. He loved the Frio River. Our typical stay was in ConCan but I was unable to find anything and came across this rental. Mark was wonderful and accommodating. If there was an issue or question he was quick to respond. He even told my brother where some good hiking spots were. The property was clean and all the processes were simple. Thank you for allowing us to celebrate my son in heavens birthday. Also, he brought the rain he knows how much his mom loves the rain so she can enjoy the Frio.
We had a wonderful time staying at the Leakey River Rental! Even before we arrived we felt welcomed by Mark, who made sure we had all the information we could possibly need to make our trip a success.
The cabin is lovely and spacious inside and there are several porches outside where you can relax with a coffee, a book or just sit and enjoy the quiet. The weather was cool, so we enjoyed the fireplace in the living room as well as the fire pit outside. The kitchen is well stocked and there is even a second refrigerator outside which is so helpful when cooking for a group!
It is a short walk to the Frio from the house and along the way we saw deer, rabbits and many different birds.
Mark is an incredible host and it was very easy to contact him with any questions. He suggested we make reservations to visit Garner State Park and Lost Maples and we were so happy he did! We enjoyed two days of amazing hiking, views and wildlife.
We will definitely return to the Leakey River Rental in the future. It already feels like a home away from home!
We had a wonderful family vacation. Leakey River Rental was exactly what I was looking to rent. A beautiful private cabin that is so close to the running Frio River with its own private entrance to the river. Most of the time we had the river to ourselves with great cold swimming holes. We saw many deer while going to the river. The cabin!! What can I say, is very spacious with everything one needs. Big bedrooms. The master bedroom with king bed downstrairs is hugh, the upstairs queen bedroom was also big and the room with 5 beds was hugh too. Very comfortable even with all 5 beds in it. All 3 rooms had their own full bathroom, half restroom in living room. Upstairs awesome outside seating areas, we were able to enjoy the sunset on one side with all its beautiful colors in the sky and see the moon rise on the other side so big and bright. During the day when we were not at the river, my grandson who is almost 2 years enjoyed playing outside. He had a great time. We enjoyed the seating area under the by big oak tree during the day as it provided shade from the sun and during the evening a great place to sit with music and firepit going. It is also pet friendly. Mark, the property manager also made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. From the time I booked the cabin he make us feel very welcome. He gave us great direction to get to the property and he was also waiting for us when we arrived to show us the cabin. We will definitely stay there again. PERFECT PLACE TO STAY!!
We absolutely enjoyed our stay here at this beautiful home. The house was incredibly accommodating for everyone in our group. Plenty of space and very cozy. Bedrooms with their own bathrooms & lots of porch space if anyone wanted to break away at their own time. Every amenity of this home was outstanding. There’s even an extra fridge outside on the side porch that helps with any extra drinks or ice to be stored.
Mark was so helpful in guiding us to the main river spots to play in. The walk to the main river spot on this property (which is shallower right now) wasn’t far at all. Maybe a 5 min walk at most. Not bad. The kids did it on their own time occasionally. We found most of our time was spent at the deeper area so the kids could swim. There was even a nice rock ledge in that area for them to jump off of. Made for a fun day on the river. Plenty of shade found too in that spot that canopies weren’t needed. (Just chairs) The drive to this spot was only a minute or two up the road. Not far and easy to access.
We spent most of our time outside at the house while we grilled dinners and just hung out enjoying the peace and quiet under the trees. And quiet it is…if you’re looking for a secluded river vacation home, this is it! Might even catch a falling star or two & a couple deer roaming as well, which was fun to see.
A great home on a quiet & peaceful property. Will definitely be back again to stay.
We had a great stay at the property! Beautiful location and home! Mark Davis was an Incredible host and was great in communicating with us prior to our stay. We can’t thank Mark enough for the hospitality. We will be back soon :)
My family and I (11 total) really enjoyed our stay! The rental was great and perfect for our family. The location was exactly what we were looking for. Really enjoyed walking down to the river and the seclusion. Mark was great and very responsive. Will definitely boon again!
Mark was excellent. The property is very nice has everything you need. Very clean and cozy! Rio is breathtaking and the whole family had an awesome trip. We will be back for sure!
Spent the week of Thanksgiving at this house with another family and had the greatest time! Plenty of tools and pans in the kitchen for us to handle a full Thanksgiving meal and the kids loved the giant bedroom for the 5 of them upstairs. Close to the river & hiking on property . The kids even braved the cold water on a warm day! We will def be back!!
We really enjoyed our time at the Frio. The house was large enough for our group of twelve including kids and adults. It was peaceful and the private river access meant we weren’t competing for space or access to the river. We were close enough to drive to Leakey and Garner but far enough away to not fight with neighbors or noise. Jeff was communicative and offered helpful tips. Would def book again!
Everything was great! The view from the cabin, skipping stones in the river, kitchen equipment, A/V equipment, comfortable bedding and towels, cleanliness, porches, patio, stars at night, proximity to Garner and Lost Maples (30-40 min).
Kids loved the large bedroom upstairs that fit all four of them with ample space left over.
Mark was a warm and welcoming host. Thank you for the ice cream and tour of the neighborhood.
It's a long way from our home, but we felt right at home!

The BEST Getaway
I took my daughter and 6 friends to Frio River Rock Rental for her 13th birthday, and we/they had the best time. This is my 4th stay at this property and I keep going back. This time, the girls LOVED the home and the privacy of the bid bedroom upstairs, had a blast playing in the Frio River, and insisted on going to Garner Dance both nights of our stay. They are eagerly anticipating a return visit next summer. Mark is the absolute BEST host you could ask for. He even arranged to have a birthday cake (instead of his usual pie) for my daughter upon our arrival. Best memories!
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin. We had 4 adults and 6 kids staying at the cabin, and we had PLENTY of room to spread out. There are plenty of sitting areas both inside and outside, and the upstairs bedroom with 5 beds was perfect for all of the kids. Mark is a great communicator and host and even took us around on his gator to show us the private entrances we could use to access the Frio River. The road behind the property leads to a great lookout and challenging hike. The only downside was the distance to the river. Technically you could walk to the river, but not if you were carrying a lot of items. However, there were several different areas to drive to and park, so the options were nice for changing things up. Thank you Mark!!
Spent “Good Friday” weekend in this place. Could not ask for better experience. Mark is very committed to providing the absolute best experience. Cabin is very remote and surrounded by beautiful hills. The river is a walk, unfortunately too cold for the babies, however, there is water constantly flowing. Much needed disconnection from city life (live in Houston). Gardner State Park is near and Lost Maple is a drive away in what is some of the most scenic routes of Texas Hill Country. The cabin and property is as picture show, very clean and private place, it won’t disappoint. Wish I would have done the week, but overall one for the family memory on a weekend getaway. On Saturday the sun pierced through the clouds and exposed Gods country before our eyes, the weather became warm and we watch a beautiful sunset, and then later that night with clear skies we got to see stars in the sky.
Mark was a perfect host, excellent touch sending the text the day before we left to travel there, as he mentioned cell service is spotty around the house and he was right, I followed the directions on his text and found the property without google. He also gave us the location of a few swimming holes close by and it’s where we ended up spending all of our time. We were on the west frio and both swimming holes had water that was neck deep. In multiple spots you can feel the cool water coming from the ground. My kids explored both these areas and we could not have had more fun. Those swimming holes are possibly the best place to spend a week of 100 degree temps. The house has very capable wifi, while inside the home, however my wife and I were very thankful for the week of no cell service. The whole trip, property, mark, all of it was just what this family needed and we couldn’t have had a better time. We will be back
Property was wonderful! Great place to unplug. The river was nice, but you do need to drive to it. Enjoyed sitting around the firepit and enjoying the outdoors! Close to Garner, and we chose to hop over there for a day of hiking. My only complaint would be that the AC doesn't work well. Manager of property discussed this with us upon arrival. They are trying to get it fixed, just can't find workers to get it done.
Luckily, it was nice out and temperatures didn't cause much of an issue for our March visit. Our second night there the upstairs temp reading was 80 degrees. We had 2 fans on to help. I can't imagine being here in the summer though with the AC not functioning fully. Other than this, we enjoyed a great country get-a-way with a beautiful hill country view!

Beautiful property in Leakey, Texas
Mark Davis is the sweetest man we have ever met. He met us at the property with a smile and two home baked pies. He took us on a tour of the property and the Frio River. He was the best guide you could ask for. The house we stayed in was beautiful and very welcoming. Everything you could ask for was provided. We stayed during the Thanksgiving holidays and cooked a full meal. Did not have to ask for anything.Supplies were already in the house. We had eight people and we had plenty of room for everybody. We had a fire several nights outside and my Cub Scout grandson was quite the host. He built the best fires. We went into Leakey a couple of times and met some wonderful people. We loved the scenery and the quietness of where the cabin was. We loved it so much that my husband would like to buy some land out there. Thank you Mark Davis for being a terrific host and for mailing back a sweater that was left behind. We will definitely be back again but in the summer so we can swim in the Frio River. Robert, Joyce, Hunter, Crystal, Hal, Wills, Donald, Sam and my doggie Chloe. She loved exploring outside and she felt quite at home there.
