Come relax and fall in Love with this modern rustic cabin which is directly on the Frio River and is a perfect getaway in the heart of the Texas Hill country. Our two cabins are energy efficient design with A/C and heating year round, beautiful interior, firepit outside, BBQ grills, a complete modern kitchen, bath and facilities. Roast marshmellows and Smores over a fire out back or sit under the stars and enjoy a clear dark sky free from the city lights.

Easy access to the river, hiking, beautiful views, kayaking, birding, nearby Garner State Park, Lost Maples State Park , hunting, fishing. The cabin has something for everyone year round with dazzling leaf colors in the fall, birding year round and summer fun in the river.

Lovely Cabin in Remote Location on Frio River

My wife and I frequent the Texas Hill Country and look for quiet cabins in remote areas. This one was perfect for us. The cabin is well maintained, clean, and lacking in nothing. The location was remote, quiet, and literally on the river. It is hard to access the water because of the steep river bank. There is a large rope provided to stabilize your climb down and back up. Not a problem for us able-bodied old folks. Kids would love it. We found our stay to quite enjoyable and look forward to returning in the future.

Nice overall views, the cabin is well equip, the living room ( chair and futon) should be updated and access to the water is difficult at best. at least if over 60 yrs of age even then you need to be very careful. easy access to town and restaurants. I would visit again.

Amazing Place

This was our 6 year going to Double Dog Cabins. I can not say enough wonderfully things about the place. It has it all. Great view, privacy, easy river access. The house is very cute and has everything you need. And the owner, Mr. Moore, is wonderful and extremely helpful. Already have next year booked.

Perfect Cabin on the River

This was a great spot tucked away with a fabulous view of the river. Got to relax with the family with our own little piece of the river, not many people around. Super quiet and the house had everything we needed.

Updated listing with a smart tv. Two bedrooms with all the blankets and pillows one would want. Futon was great for the kids. Plenty of chairs for lounging around. Plenty of wood on the property. Lots of movies for the family to choose from.

Perfect Little Cabin & Spot

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and it was absolutely the perfect place! The cabin was equipped with everything you could need and the views were breathtaking. The climb up and down to the river is very steep so you'd need to be able to handle that to access the river from the property. John was great and very helpful. Our dogs also had a great time swimming in the river. It was deep enough in spots for them to swim but shallow enough for us to sit in chairs and enjoy the water. We definitely plan to return again for another visit.

Absolutely wonderful. Cabin very clean and very well stocked. The bottle of wine was a sweet touch.

It was truly a chance to just be....the sound of the river from the front porch, the view of the stars at night and the fact you are away from technology made this an awesome get away.

This is our second year coming to the "Double Dog Cabins". It's secluded but close enough to town and Garner State Park. The kids love playing in the river and fishing. The house is cozy and has everything you need.

We really enjoyed Spring Break 2018 on the Frio! The Moore’s were great hosts and the cabin was well equipped with everything we needed. Our son enjoyed fishing for bass in the Frio and our dog Bucee really loved the easy river access. A perfect Hill Country getaway !

Had a blast!

This was our first family trip to the Frio and a memorable one! Had no surprises at the property and Mr. Moore answered every question we had. The privacy was what we looked for and only saw our neighbors from the other cabin during our stay. Went to the swim hole at Concan and missed the river at the cabin (the crowds)! Grilled each night and enjoyed the wilderness there as well. Boys loved Yahtzee during the storms and plenty of room in the cabin for our family of 5. Will stay again and recommend to friends!
