You really need to take advantage of tours outside Lerwick. I did dine at The String and thoroughly enjoyed my vegetarian meal. I had a private guide for my trips and would highly recommend this option. The Mousa boat trip is well worth the time.
I took the Shetland Wildlife boat tour (https://www.thule-charters.co.uk/) around the cliffs of Noss Island. Amazing scenery, some seals, and LOTS of seabirds. I'd highly recommend it.
Lerwick was beautiful. The only downside was that most restaurants and shops closed at 5:00 PM or 6:00 PM on weeknights and many were not open on Sunday.
Just loved everything about it. We had family members showing us around so we saw things that most people might not get a chance to see. Lovely, lovely place. Shetland is a hidden gem. Great for just relaxing and seeing the sites.
