Lovely rural setting
This is a lovely house in a beautiful rural setting. Our only recommendation to the property owners would be to update the bedding, specifically in the primary bedroom upstairs. The mattress was extremely hard and uncomfortable. Also, the description suggests it is a 4 minute walk to the National History Museum and 13 minute walk to the Les Eyzies train station. Unless there is a path through the woods that we did not find, the road to town is unwalkable and dangerous.

Beautiful property and great hosts
We had a wonderful time - the house is even more beautiful than the photographs. The garden is enclosed which is hard to see on the pictures but made it great for our dog. There is absolutely everything you could need in the kitchen and the house had a lovely atmosphere. We would love to return

Heaven at La Truffiere
La Truffiere is a fantastic home. Has all of the comforts, great design, very spacious, wonderful grounds, delightful pool and lounge area, and remarkable view. Alain and Genevieve are wonderful hosts and are available for any questions you might have. The area is great for exploring and then relaxing at La Truffiere. We had a great time.

Amazing villa with private pool, beautiful views and great location
The villa is fantastic and equipped with everything you need. The kitchen is set up to a professional standard, the lounge is spacious, the bedrooms are very comfortable and there are plenty of bathrooms for all guests. The inside was spotlessly clean and very well presented with lots of attention to detail, making it feel like a luxury hotel and making us feel very welcome. The owners greeted us on arrival and did a great job of showing us around the property, and also left some very nice local food and wine as a welcome gift. The outside of the property is absolutely spectacular, with outstanding views across the valley from the private terrace, and the main focus for much of our holiday, the large heated swimming pool and sun deck. The property and grounds are expertly kept and maintained, which helps to create a perfect relaxing holiday experience. The local town is nearby with all the amenities you need, and there are plenty of other beautiful towns and villages to visit within a short drive. We've stayed at many great villas in many different countries and this is one of the very best. We'll be back!

Delightful base for exploring the Perigord Nord
This delightful villa was spacious, extremely well equipped, and professionally decorated. Our three couple party were very comfortable here, and the location , seven minutes from Les Eyzies, was great for location for exploring the valley and provided a convenient selection of excellent restaurants. It was too chilly to enjoy the pool, but it looked inviting and the vista of lawn and woods from the back veranda was great. Alain"s parents provided a warm welcome and close proximity for any questions or issues. All in all a wonderful holiday.

Relaxing stay
La truffiere is a beautiful house in a lovely area, with fantastic views and a wonderful swimming pool. It is very well situated for a wide variety of activities from the prehistoric caves, to canoeing on the Vezere, to visiting one of the marvellous castles. Luc and his parents were very accommodating, friendly and responsive. We definitely hope to stay again one day!

Excellent property in an Excellent Location
My Family and I (including my dog Asta) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Truffiere. We were warmly welcomed by the lovely father and mother of the owner (who live close by). A gift basket as well was awaiting for us on our arrival, along with a lovely bottle of Bordeaux wine that we thought was one of the best ever. We even searched for it, to buy to no avail. We were all incredibly appreciative of the welcome and the home. The home is exactly as the pictures show. The space is delightful and very spacious. The location and the views were highlights, as was the fantastically well appointed (professional) kitchen. The home has every Glass and dish imaginable and more than enough for a party of 12 or 15. The outdoor stone patio table had a nice cover that made eating outside a joy. In addition to two huge, beautiful umbrellas. Communication was excellent via VRBO app and upon arrival. Be aware the address given by VRBO once the home is booked is slightly incorrect. Not to worry as you get the correct address prior to your arrival. Also, if a guest were to use Google maps (satellite view) the home is easily identifiable. It is 7 minutes outside Les Eyzies. Super Convenient to all area attractions. We stayed in late May and the temps were quite high. The home was cool as the AC worked perfectly. The outdoor areas were a highlight with my wife, especially the Petanque area that has a light, the pool, and outdoor dining area with incredible views. I asked my Mother in Law and her sister to rate the home on a scale of 1-5. They both simultaneously said 10! Everyone in our group agreed that we would return and there was nothing the owners could do to make the stay any more fantastic. All in all a wonderful experience had by everyone. A lovely home and a lovely family.

Dordogne gem
We spent a wonderful week in a magnificent country house in Dordogne. Amazing views, both in the day of the beautiful countryside, and at night with the clearest starry nights. The facilities were top notch with many amenities supplied gratis by the owners. The kitchen was fit for a Michelin star chef and the great room serviced by a humungous fire place. What luxury. Even the barbecue was in itself a building to cook and enjoy the large patio to eat alfresco. We were looked after by Luc who was an outstanding host giving us the highest level of professionalism and also being a great guy as well. Nothing was too much and he was always ready to help us when needed. Could not have asked for a better stay. We hope to do this again next year. Bravo La Truffiere!

Awesome!
We loved staying here! This is a beautifully designed home with an impressive view. We spent a lot of time outside by the pool appreciating our surroundings. It was so peaceful. The home is well appointed with large bedrooms and modern amenities. We loved the well equipped kitchen. Luc is a wonderful host and his parents, who met us upon arrival, are equally delightful. We can't thank them enough for their hospitality. We will definitely be back.

Another wonderful stay!
After spending a week at this wonderful property last year we were lucky enough to be able to spend two weeks at La Truffiere this year. Once again we had an absolutely wonderful stay. Everything about the property is fab, from the pool and grounds, to the wonderfully equipped kitchen and location near Les Eyzies-de-Tayac. Luc is a wonderful host, ably supported by his lovely mother and father, who live close by and are on hand if you need anything. Very little can compare to the view over the surrounding valleys and oak forests as you enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine. We will most definitely be returning (again)!

Beautiful, property, view and home. Best equipped home that we have stayed in. Enjoyed the heated pool. There is lots to do in the area. Hosts Luc and Alain are terrific. Really couldn't say more . It's a 5 Plus. We were 4 couples and we all enjoyed it immensely.

Absolutely Fabulous!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were warmly welcomed by the lovely father and mother of the owner (who live close by). Local meats, fruits and vegetables were awaiting us on our arrival, along with a lovely bottle of Cote de Bergerac! After a thorough briefing of all the essentials we were left to settle in and relax. The location and the views were highlights, as was the fantastically well appointed (professional) kitchen. Having spent the previous week in wonderful Provence we found the beautiful Oak forests a lovely variation in scenery and the infinity pool gave lots of opportunity to contemplate and chill. A special mention for the excellent air conditioning system. You couldn’t hear it but you knew it was working away in the background - particularly useful in mid-30’s temperatures! Finally I wanted to mention how kind the parents were again - after a brief but violent storm they arrived with a generator (luckily not needed) in case our electricity supply had been disrupted (apparently we were the only property in the area which was still running electricity)! All in all a wonderful experience and we fully expect to return, if at all possible, next year.

A truly magnificent holiday in the Perigord Noir
My family and I had the most spectacular holiday at La Truffière. The house is very beautiful and has everything you could want. There was eight of us in our group, five adults and three children and there was more than enough room so that we never felt on top of each other. The bedrooms are all very spacious and the living and kitchen area is big. Both the inside dining table and outside table fit all of us very comfortably around it. The views from the bedrooms are beautiful over the valley and we ate most meals on the terrace so we could enjoy the magnificent view. The kids made great use of the heated pool and the gardens and surroundings are so beautiful. Everything is very well maintained both inside the house and out. We loved the fireplace and made us great use of it on the cool nights as well as those gorgeous baths! The location of the house is excellent. It is close to lots of great little villages that have superb markets on different days of the week. Sarlat is only 30 minutes away too. Thank you again for having us stay at your wonderful house, we loved every minute and the house certainly made our holiday so very special!

Stunning stay with all you could wish for
This property is absolutely beautiful. We arrived on a cloudy afternoon to be met by a warm welcome from the owners and an equally welcoming glow from the huge fireplace. The gite has all you could ever want - a cook's dream, swimmers paradise and the rooms are lovely. Copious amounts of matching crockery, cutlery, linen and towels made every meal a pleasure. The welcome pack of bread, cheese, milk, butter, yoghurt, meats, and a delicious bottle of wine was an unexpected bonus. There were six of us adults staying and it was perfect. We did feel that if the other couple, who were originally going to come, had joined us they may have felt slightly less fortunate in the fourth bedroom, which is clearly a children's room, but this is fairly described in the information. We could not fault this property and made use of all it had to offer - huge barbecue, delightful infinity pool (heated) and boules pitch which saw many a match on wine filled evenings! Our only complaint was the weather which was unseasonably cool, wet and misty - but hey...... back to that gorgeous big fireplace and massive logs provided!!!! La Truffiere is a French treasure 😀

Truly amazing
This a fabulous house with no fault to be found. We were greeted by the owners and shown around the property and everything explained to us. We were very thankful for the meats, cheese, bread, fruit, milk and wine that they provided for us - a feast for our arrival! Coffee and tea (many varieties) were also available. The bedrooms were extremely comfortable and the bathrooms beautiful. The dining room and lounge are grand but homely. The outside spaces are comfortable and relaxing spaces whether for alfresco dining, sunbathing or watching the wildlife. Bird feeders were topped up during our stay which meant there was a constant stream of visiting birds to watch from the terrace. The kitchen was stocked with every piece of equipment you could think of to whip up a snack or a 5 course meal. The pool is lovely with comfortable loungers. There is even a pentanque court with lighting for evening competitions. The owners also helped us by choosing a restaurant to celebrate our daughter's birthday. They also made sure we knew where to shop for food and wine in the town and to mention them. We had an amazing fortnight and am sure we will be back. The owners were previously hoteliers with a 2 star restaurant and you can tell when you stay at this marvellous home. The friendly owners, their attention to detail and quality of everything in the home made us feel relaxed from the moment we arrived and we had a great holiday.

A perfect holiday retreat.
La Truffiere is the best equipped holiday home we have stayed in. It is beautifully positioned a couple of kilometers outside Les Eyzies-de Tatac which can provide all your needs during your stay. The hosts, Alain and Genevieve are charming and living close by are readily available if required. The property has stunning views an excellent pool area, a very good covered outside dining area and a purpose built BBQ which we used a lot. There are many good restaurants in the area but frankly why leave the perfect spot?
