Very roomy and enjoyable place to stay. I loved how relaxing it was. I was thankful to be allowed to bring my dog. I appreciated that the price was reasonable! Great stay and I hope to come again!!
Spacious, comfy, welcoming room, most amenities you'd need for your stay. Just a short ride to Mackinaw, Petoskey and more...very convenient location. Would definitely stay here again!
This was a great place to stay and adventure out each day. Sissi was quick to respond with any questions we had. It is close to so many attractions. We will definitely be coming back to stay again.
We had a great time relaxing and enjoying the sites. Echoey inside, very high ceilings but very, very nice inside. Kind people to deal with and dogs allowed 🐕.
Roomy studio apartment with comfy beds.
Cute decor! Clever way to repurpose an old school. Although there was no stove, we were still able to prepare meals with the other small appliances found in the kitchen.
My sister, niece and I loved our stay! Next fall 4 of my sisters and I want to book a stay. Maybe in rooms B or C. Thanks so much for allowing me to change our dates. Hope to see you next fall!

Clean, charming, very affordable and located a great area for exploring everything from the UP to the shores of Lake Michigan! We had everything we needed for our short stay. Linens, towels and throws were wonderful. You can tell a good host by the nice linens!!!!
My husband and I enjoyed our stay. The rental was clean and well maintained. I would recommend this rental , It was close to many activities in the Mackinac area.
We loved this place! Such a cool idea, turning an old school into VRBO apartments. Not far from Wilderness State Park, Mackinaw City, etc.
We only stayed for one night, but if you're staying longer, be aware there's no stove, so don't plan on cooking meals that need more than a microwave.
We'll definitely be back!
I was a little worried about this based on the outside when we pulled in, but I was very impressed once we went inside. I just loved it! This is located close to Mackinaw City and the big green bridge. This place is excellent for the short stay ( no stove) but has a microwave and fridge/freezer. The inside was clean and very inviting. I would definitely stay here again!
If you are looking for a cool place to stay, look no further! Anyone who has ever had any interest in history or unique renovations will love this place. I was completely enamored with the 1920's charm of the schoolhouse and all the architectural elements that were persevered while turning the building into a clean, comfortable place for a fun getaway. 10 out of 10!
This was a spur of the moment trip and we were looking for a place to sleep because we had a lot planned. The outside was plain and we were unsure of what to expect. However, you turn the door knob and the magic begins. The condo was large and cutely decorated to match the theme. We regretted not being able to spend more time relaxing here and enjoying the breeze from the country setting. There is a rooster nearby (neighbor’s) whose clock was a bit off, however we slept through it and only heard it when we arrived back to the condo after the sunset and dinner. The location is perfect for heading in so many directions. I’ll be booking this again when we come for better colors or with the kids. Charming, clean, and comfortable!
The stay was great. Very clean and the inside remodel is very cool. The outside needs a little TLC as well as the location isn’t what I expected. But that’s no fault of this rental. No places near to eat / town is a little run down. There was a little mishap with the check in process but the host did a great job communicating to me thereafter!
We loved the school house! It was close to everything we wanted to see and do. Opening the front door of the school, was like going back in time to my grade school days. We loved the oak floors. Each room has a different theme. I would have loved to seen them! We stayed in room D, the Lake Room. Room B is the Adventure Room and Room C is the Flower Room. They are working on Room A, which will be the Music Room.
The beds were comfy, room was very clean! The only thing I would suggest is...taller toilets. I will definitely plan another visit! Thank you Elisabeth!

EXCITED TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL!!!
Truly one of those most loved & enjoyed places to stay! I can’t wait to return & stay in every room! If you love history/old buildings & appreciate seeing them preserved, you’ll absolutely love your stay here! Not only is it unique in its historical structure but every inch of this place seems to quietly whisper that you are in a special place. From the moment you open the front door your senses are cheerfully heightened by the beautiful, gleaming hardwood floors/woodwork & chandeliers & you can almost hear giggles & the clamoring of excited feet as they hurry around you & up the stairs & you just know you’re adding your footsteps to the many others who entered the hall & stepped into those classrooms!! You are now a privileged part of its history! It’s heartwarmingly obvious that the owners have put much thought & effort into repurposing the space to accommodate every modern need while still honoring & preserving the building’s historical integrity. It is beautifully decorated & furnished with every thing you could want, from streaming water to streaming service, hair dryer to clothes dryer, cutlery to coffee pot & cozy throw blankets for curling up to soft & incredibly comfy beds! There’s even an (artificial😉) oil lamp for the soft flickering ambiance of days gone by.🥱 Located in a quiet area minutes from everything North makes travel very convenient. Sissi was top notch & obviously loves what she does! Go back to schoo! You’ll love it!!❤
First I’d like to say the inside of this building is gorgeous, the outside and surrounding neighborhood is a bit run down and we were a bit worried especially arriving after dark. However, we didn’t have any issues.
I’d like to note a few things though. The listing says A-4 room old school house. I misinterpreted that and assumed it was made into a bathroom and an open area for the kitchen/living room/beds.I believe the listing needs to be better stated this is a building with 4 separate apartments for rent. They share a hallway to each apartment and the washer/dryer are in the hallway.
We were traveling with our 1 year old dog who’s not traveled much before and other renters had dogs too, also we have a 3y/o who still naps during the day and while nap time was happening there were vacuums being ran and the noise of the washer/dryer, people in/out.Luckily he was so worn out from the long drive the night before this didn’t seem to bother him much.
Had this been stated I’m not sure we would’ve have chosen to bring our dog. Also if we were staying longer the nap noises would have been a problem him.
I do want to say again, the inside is very nice. The host messages were good as far as communication. Close to attractions
I think that family wise for me we’d pass on it, but if it were my husband and I definitely stay again.
Also this unit didn’t have a stove but they do have an electric plug in pan that can be used -this isn’t listed in the listing so we brought one.
