Clean campground with room to play and explore. Hiking paths are easily found, quite a few hills make this a moderate hike (kids do fine, but be careful if you have knee issues). There is a chance you will see herds of elk near the Dosewallips River, and the river itself is great fun. Nearby there are more places to explore, including a walk right on the Puget Sound shore of Hood Canal.

The southern shore of the Hood Canal in Union, Washington can be a great place for astrophotography - especially on a pleasant summer night. Between the boats docked on shore, a higher position of Polaris in the night sky, and the beautiful rolling evergreen hills, there are plenty of great subjects to capture!
