Just a 500-meter walk from the beach, this two-story townhouse surprises up to 5 vacationers with a rooftop terrace and sea view. A garden with a barbecue area, as well as a nearby children’s playground, complete the profile of this holiday home. Situated in the small community of Atalaia, approximately 5 km south of Praia da Areia Branca, you will also find all essential daily goods here, along with numerous restaurants and cafes.
Distances:
To the beach: 250 m (as the crow flies) / 500 m (on foot).
Getting Around:
Atalaia is a very typical Portuguese village that actually just happens to be located directly on the Atlantic Ocean. The village image is dominated by the church in the center, while the village gradually decreases towards the beach. The beach itself is more or less as it was created by nature. There is no tourism at all in Atalaia.
There are a few small grocery stores, a drugstore, several small cafes and restaurants and even an ATM(!). To the beach: about 20 min walk (1,5 km Porto das Barcas / 1,7 km Peralta) Nearby is Praia da Areia Branca , a typical seaside resort of the Portuguese. Fortunately, there are very few hotels or resorts here, but in August there is a lot of activity on the beach, as many Portuguese from the surrounding area come to swim. There is a lifeguard who looks after the right, and hundreds of the typical beach tents, which can be rented for a small fee. Some sections of the beach are guarded by professional lifeguards during the summer. If you want to escape this hustle and bustle, you only need to walk along the beach for one or two bays and you will have another bay to yourself. In Praia da Areia Branca there is a beautiful beach promenade with many small cafes and good restaurants. The place is especially suitable for families with young children, because there is a very nice and manageable nightlife and the contact with the locals is very easy. The express bus between Peniche and Lisbon stops almost every hour in this place. The district town of Lourinhã with large supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, health center, pharmacies, post office and bank is only 3 km away. A special highlight is the newly opened largest outdoor museum: Dinoparque Lourinhã very close by. Also you can find here the best surf spots in Europe.
