We stayed for 3 days while we were visiting our daughter. Cottage was beautifully decorated, welcoming and clean. Awesome view, picturesque and serene. Definitely will stay again! Absolutely loved it!
This home is beautifully renovated and decorated. It was immaculate. The sunsets off the back deck were so very beautiful as was watching the full moon rise. We enthusiastically recommend this home.
We found this property to fit our needs perfectly. Close proximity to Urbana, Irvington and Kilmarnock. The older home, on the Rappahannock River had been refurbished for today’s needs but retained some fun, and not so fun quirks! Nothing too serious… the water stream in the shower returned after the system built pressure back up.. Would return.
We were absolutely delighted that the cottage is as represented by the owner and other reviews. You never know until you arrive, what to expect. This is our idea of a cottage! Laying in bed looking out at the view from the upstairs suite is unbeatable. Very quiet, nice neighborhood on deadend street. The river facing side of the cottage is all windows! High bank waterfront makes a gorgeous view. Stairs down to the dock if you want to fish or put over a crabpot.
Two downstairs bedrooms have only double beds so tight for 2 people in one room. Two bathrooms is great. Loved having laundry!
Note: there were no extra garbage bags, soap or anything to wash dishes. We brought our own dish soap and bags , laundry soap, bathroom soap.. not a big deal but helpful to know in advance. The floor isnt level and made us laugh at how wavy it is. We had to provide our own battery when the smoke alarm went off in the middle of the night. Wish there was a vacuum as we had to walk through dirt to get to the door as the pathway to the door isnt finished. Cleaning prior to our arrival could have been more thorough.
Some good restaurants nearby as well as grocery.
We hated to leave and look forward to our return! Thank you for a wonderful and restful time!
We had a fantastic stay. I could not have asked for better view of the river, and both sunsets and sunrises were perfect. It was a perfect place to unwind reading and writing.
very nice cottage, well kept and clean. it rained a lot so we could not enjoy the grounds and water a lot but still a great get away. Would definitely go back!
We absolutely loved this river cottage!! It had the perfect amount of space and everything we needed for a weekend away. We loved the proximity to Kilmarnock and Topping. The cottage itself had the most beautiful views. We enjoyed the charm of the home, featuring accents from the original cottage. Super cute! We would definitely stay again!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! I chose the house because it was on the river and close to Kilmarnock. It was a comfortable house with an antique home vibe. It had all the modern conveniences and like brand new washer and dryer, dishwashing machine, and central air conditioning. The best part was the solitude; pin-drop quiet mornings and evenings.
Lovely, cozy cottage experience on the water! Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets on balcony. Quiet residential area with proximity to Urbanna and Saluda. Very well stocked kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, and privacy. Shhh! Don’t tell anyone! It’s that good.
